Thanks mate, it was 100% worth upgrading for him alone
I purchased another tang yesterday (can see an upgrade looming in the not too distant future ) which is a Silver spot Kole tang, a lovely and lively little character!
Also a cleaner wrasse, which I appreciate do not fare well in home aquariums, but have seen at my LFS for quite some time and he also eats frozen foods and takes from a Nori clip! I couldn't see him in the LFS tank when I asked them to feed him so was a bit worried, as soon as the food was in he popped his head out of the hole he was in and grabbed some. Brilliant fish.
I have to work this weekend now but it means I can collect the kole tomorrow afternoon!
Noticing some diatoms forming on the sand and glass, so will pick up a phos test kit and some rowaphos at the same time. I think at this stage its most probably the silicates causing the bloom but better safe than sorry!
Yellow tang didn't bat an eyelid and the two tangs are swimming around together. What a relief! Kole tangs are imo one of the prettiest, lots of subtle colouring.
.
The wrasse is amazing! As soon as he went in the yellow tang went over and rolled to the side, and the wrasse started cleaning him. Fantastic
Got a vid to post up later as they aren't the easiest to photograph
I love how the two tangs are so different in characteristics. The Kole is quite timid, and spends most of the time in and out of the rock work, picking at the rocks and sand. The YT is a show off and cruises back and forth along the front of the tank, occasionally picking at algae. When they see each other they get along fine
The wrasse eats everything I put in except the pelleted food as his mouth is too small. He knows when food is coming and gets excited, hanging around waiting for it to go in! He even eats Nori from the clip and picks at the rocks like a tang (hangs around with them too much)
Paid again next week, and will be getting the last of the equipment I need for now. Going to pick up a Bubble Magus NAC6A and a KZ new gen. 14k T5 on Friday, and ordering my Narva blues too. Then just to add an auto top up as I'm fed up of doing it manually!
Got home today and fed the tank. I've been adding frozen mysis(half a cube)daily to ensure the wrasse gets enough to eat, but I don't like the amount of particles in my water from using it. I'm running a 200 micron sock and filter floss to keep on top of it, but it is still not "gin clear".
I think the wrasse knew this as he has now started taking New Era marine flake
Ordered a Bubble Magus NAC7 cone skimmer, a korallen zucht new generation T5, and two Narva blue T5s. Also got some reef paste as an all in one feed
Noticing the tank starting to look a bit dirty so I've increased my CUC, added five clibanarius tricolor (blue leg hermits) two Trochus snails, another conch (great animals) and two nassarius snails. Just acclimating them now.
