'the Slow Burner' - Pics & Vid 21/08

Wills, although your position on the Bolivians is clearly what I would like to agree with, there are SIX angels and not 4. Does that alter your opinion?

Have been thinking of more exotic plecs and the whiptail does sound tempting.

Looking good mate. Love that tank, expencive new though

Yeah i would not have touched it new. Silly money

I saw the smaller 155 in a shop near me and it was very striking. Had alot of presence, so can imagine that the 320 has even more!

Have to admit i love it. Got a reclining chair right in front of it. Much better than the TV. Lights are very bright. Sat in the lounge this evening and there was no need for any room lights.

I think Wills was reffering to 4 Angels if and when you get any pairs. If this does happen then you may struggle to keep all 6 Angels as conspecific aggression is a big problem with Angels from experience as they usually pair for life.

Ok. Wasn't thinking of getting lucky enough to have 2 pairs to be honest.

Quick video of the tank. Excuse the water marks.

i like it ZZ!

I really want to knock that nice bit of wood over though, i think it'll look more natural.

The one on the left? I know. Everything has been thrown in pretty randomly at the moment. Just trying to make it as best i can for the fish until i can make them more comfortable with extra shelter. My BN is demonstrating his disapproval by burying himself under each piece of wood and creating loads of mess.

Tank is looking good :good:

@ wills "3 BN (what ever mix you can find)" would a clown plec and 2 BN work? i just thought if it would, it'd be nice to have an 'odd ball'?

I want to get BN's so that my single male has some species company. Howver, after seeing the 'destuction' he caused in the sand last night, I'm not so sure! He's managed to bury 6cm into the sand and kick up a load of cat litter, he's doing it under every piece of wood. Need to get him some stoney caves in there quickly.....

Normally, I would prefer to see 6+ Bolivian rams as well, but I suggested not increasing the numbers because from what I understand, the two have been around for quite a while, so there is no way of knowing how they would react to young fish of their own kind.

He should be a lot better with caves, get a few in, then see how he behaves.. he's only trying to make his own under the bogwood ;) I prefer to use ceramic caves which look like a log, so they blend in with the wood around them.

The rams have indeed been with me for a while, but only in the new tank for a couple of days. I don't think they are very friendly, lots of posturing and lip locking between them. If I were to get adult Bolivians, would adding them be feasible?

As for the BN, I'm off for a shopping trip at lunch today. I do have a ceramic log which I threw in lat night, this morning found that he had dug underneath it on both sides

Maybe; it would help if you rearranged the whole tank and added new décor at the same time.

Is the log the right size for him? I usually use 1.5" diameter and 8" deep ones.

he used to use it in the previous tank, and also a large piece of wood with several suitable holes in it which has also been transferred. Going to try and get some nice rocks or wood this afternoon.

As for the bolivians, rearranging will not be a problem. The current layout is only temporary.

Got some slate for making the BN caves. Spent £7.50 in a LFS for about 3kg.

Sure enough, wandered next door to the garden center afterwards and found slate for half the price.

When will I learn not to buy decor from LFS???
