The Official "hey Lovelies" Thread

It's gonna be a Betta tank, just needs a filter, heater, thermometer, and maybe a white bulb instead of the blue incandescent bulb that's in it. Maybe I can get him a florescent bulb............that fits in that fixture?

If it's an incandescent a fluorescent tube won't fit, but CFLs work magic! What's the wattage on the incandescent? I'm guessing a 10 watt CFL will do good!

Yeas, a CFL should though. It has a clear plastic splash guard they may make it challenge to get one to fit. Best bet would be to bring the incandescent bulb with me to Lowe's or Home Depot.........

You should make your own filter out of a water bottle an air pump and and some filter media..

It'll change your life..


I'll be finishing up a 576 curve tracer today..

My wife watches that show, what does that say about Mr. Hambone? LOL

If the tank was for me I'd try a homemade thing but this has to be fairly low maintenance quiet & easy for a kid to start off with. I'm heading to the fish stores later armed with some dimensions..........

making your own filter takes aboot 10 minutes total..

I have homemade filters as well as store bought filters in all my tanks..


I got me a preggers female who is dropping fries right now.. Betta is luzzing it..

Hey lovelies! I'm going to take a trip to the LFS to look around. Will probably not get anything, but I still want to look around. I'll take a look at any nano fish they have, celestial pearl danios, endlers livebearers, and the male and female bettas. Still debating if I should save a betta from my LFS or a Petsmart or Petco

As far as which store I must say, the best Bettas available around here are at Petco and it'snot even close. They have Plakats, Kings, Crown Tails, Half Moons, Veil Tails, and even some nice Double Tail Half Moons! Some of their coloring is show quality too. You can even get females baby Bettas..........what are you waitin' for?!?!

What's stopping me is fear that a betta will eat my shrimp...I really like dragonscales and halfmoons or deltas.
Would females be less aggressive?
Or should I buy a baby betta and it will be used to the shrimp?

And I'm either going to get a Betta from my LFS (better quality) or one from a chain store...
While online bettas are usually more beautiful, I can't afford to buy one and then return it if it eats shrimp
