hi trod

nice setup what are the tests look like now nitrite moved at all

regards scott

Thanks guys :good:
Yes T all comments welcome :) I decided to try scaping without the rods first and when I finished I really liked it, so I didn't bother with them. You can't really see in the photo, but there are 3 caves in there, one on the left and 2 on the right, It looks natural to me, with a sort of rock fall appearance on the right, But i'm sure over the months tweeking will go on

 No problem Bagu, I am the young one :look: I didn't go with the polario as it gives out a lot of flow, and lions don't really like that, so I went the tried and tested Koralia route, I have 3 xK3's in there :good:

Will do tests later, but the nitrIte seems to be stuburn, it is falling but very, very slowly

Only suggested the overhanging caves because of the lions, when I saw two last year when snorkelling in the red sea, they were underneath quite a large overhang, seems as if they liked the caves like that. Not being an officianado on lions, I believe due to the size that they were Volitans.

I could not see the caves no, may be my eyesight though, need an eye test, actually its overdue but waiting for a disabled badge, so will go after I get that.

I have snorkeled in Mexico, the Maldives and Antigua and never once seen a Lionfish :grr: I really want to go to the Red sea hopefully will see one there :good:

Trod.
Sorry to hijack.
Just a quick question, do corals effect bioload?
So if I got the 550 is there a difference between having 2 corals,
and having 25 corals.

not really no, depending on the type of coral, they will use more of the elements in the water such as calcuim quicker, if there are more of them. But thats what testting and water changes are for.

OH gawd  gonna have to let someone else answer that one. I have 14 corals in my orca but don't honestly know about bio load, softies are probably not an issue, (which I have) but LPS might make a differance.
So I shall pass that over :good:

Cheers for that ben.
I will ask in my journal before I buy each coral etc etc.
Sorry if it sounds a silly question, how do you know the diffference with LPS and softies?
Whats the difference?

LPS is large polyped stoney coral. Meaning the fleshy colourful bit that expands out is usually attached to a boney skeleton. Softies are jus that, soft.

LPS/SPS are Large polyps stoney corals and small polyps stoney corals they have a skeleton and so need calcium to grow, softies don't, like mushrooms, xenia, leathers and recordeas. LPS/SPS examples Euphyllia's, elegance and sun corals to name but a few :good:

No question is silly, :flowers:

Nice Rock! I think the placement is lovely, looks really natural.

Sounds like you are nearly there :good:
