I have the pre-show jitters over here, rushing around making sure everything is ready for next week. Fish should start arriving at my house this coming Tuesday, and our fish from overseas should be here by that Thursday. We're expecting quite a large turn out, and we'll have clubs from all over participating including Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, not to mention the US. Overall we expect over 500 fish. A large variety of wilds as well.

So, I invite all of you local members to join us on October 15 and 16th at
Transportation Worker Union Hall
759 North Kimball Ave.
Southlake, TX 76092

(Kimball exits off of 114, really easy to get to)
All day Saturday and the auction starts at 10 on Sunday.

Here's a slide of our summer show for those of you who weren't around for it way back when...

Jim Sonnier was going to judge for us again but we heard from him last night and he just can't make it. His house was destroyed during Hurricane Rita :( So as you can imagine he is quite distraught over all of this. He say's that some of his bettas survived though, although they're not looking too good. How heartbreaking on many levels.
We will have Ernie Perez as a judge, he's the head of the IBC judging board and he was coming down to watch the show anyway. Wish us luck! We need it. Our club tends to stir the pot and push the envelope during shows. We hope to have the biggest and best of the year

Our thoughts and best wishes go with you Wuv! Good luck and remember...Lots of pics!!!

Yeah!!! Pics! Pics!! Pics!!!

Good fortune, wuv. Leave the credit cards and paypals at home. :p

Woohoo, count me in!! I'm gonna have to go with my mom since my friend can't make it this time and I don't want to go alone, lol, but maybe I can get her interested in bettas :shifty:. It sounds like it's going to be totally awesome... again! I'm so lucky to live near the club that gets wilds in shows and what not, hehe :p

Good, I'm glad you're still coming  I'm going to try something different this time, so we won't be stuck there logging in until the wee hours of the morning, so maybe I'll actually have a chance to visit this time.

Thanks for the well wishes, ladies. And there will definitely be pictures. Oh yes. :shifty:

That really looks like quite a set-up at the last show. I noticed with exception to the first pic they’re all in the same type of jar. Are there rules on what type can be used? Do entrants bring them with? Are there rules on carding/uncarding? How many do you room and board at your place?

Maybe there's one near you. Of course it wouldn't compare to Wuv and Synirrs.

I don't know if I've missed it but I've been invited to one in Sacramento.

The wild betta pairs are in bigger containers. Everyone else will be in 1 gallon glass tanks. They are furnished and setup by the club. Hope to see some new faces at this one. It will be a blast.

hey wuv,
good luck with the show!!! are any of your babies going to the show?
I don't know, I haven't decided yet. I still have last years fish so maybe I'll re-show some red and a couple of the green boys. I'd like to see how well they do in regular classes after they did so well in Novice.But....I don't know if I want to be bothered with it all. Hmmm, I'll think about it some more.

Yes, IBC rules states that they have to be in 64 ounces or more. Some clubs use beanies etc, it depends on the club. All of the splendens go in those awesome 64 oz jars and the wilds.....grr,the wilds go in our personal one and 2.5 gallons. Last time I had to take all of my fish out of their kritter keepers and tanks so we could use them and I *might* have to do that again. I'm still waiting to see if Lee's products is going to come thru and deliver a ton of KK's to us. I doubt it but it doesn't hurt to ask. As for the jars, our club owns about 900 of those bad boys :hey:
Carding~ it is standard that they are carded. A fish who does NOT flare is usually disqualified.

awesome kelly!
about our little plan with the wilds... i just cant afford it this time:( so unless you find a pair i am extremely interested in and they are extremely cheap. oh ill just pm you later.

Good luck!

Best of luck to the club on hosting the show!! Oh I so wish I could be there, sounds like you're getting some excellent wild types in. I'll just have to drool over the pictures I suppose....................

What do they use the torch for? Looks great, what are the conditions for entering though? I mean, can you show a fish you bought or do you have to have bred it? :*)

You can only show a purchased fish in Novice and you have to have written permission from the breeder. Over in Asia they show purchased fish regularly, this is an explanation of why sometimes you see Aquabid fish going for outrageous prices, because showing a bought fish is accepted AND they have cash prizes at their shows. So a five hundred dollar fish is an investment.
The flashlight is for seeing the fish. It's difficult to see them with a black background. Note ours were yellow but they'll be black this time since everyone raised such a stink over the yellows
