Texas Betta Society 2nd International Show

Gaaaaaah! Oh the frustration!
We have 400 fish tied up in Singapore right now. They were to be shipped today (yesterday their time) and they were stuck in customs because some of the wild species were mistaken for baby snakeheads! They were confirmed as bettas, eventually, but they missed their flight.
I haven't received one single fish from an American breeder yet either, although there are several boxes scheduled for tomorrow. This is crazy. Our last show ran much smoother...in the beginning. I'm skeered. Someone hold me.

On a positive note, the fish from Thailand should be here tomorrow, supposedly 130 of them. So, at least we'll have some fish  I'm still not sure what to think of the late 400. If they do get here, that is great, but they'll be so late and it will take forever and a day to log all of them in.

Ok, rant over.
Or is it?

Well, that one was censored and you missed the part where I picked up my desk and threw it across the room mid-type.
Thanks for the well wishes, we need it....obviously :look: The first two shows went so well, I expected the third to be a breeze. It's driving me crazy waiting for any and all delivery persons, and doing nothing at the same time. I'm all caught up and I'd like to be ahead of the game but I'm at a standstill and I don't like that. My fish are happy though, they're getting attention lavished on them with all my boredom. :fun:

Oh gosh, mistaken for baby snakeheads??
I guess I can't laugh, as I've never seen a baby snakehead, but geez... it just sounds a bit silly!
Hopefully they'll get there in time... If you need any help Saturday and Sunday let me know, I'd be happy to lend a hand :)

400 bettas!!! o...my....god...!!!!!

Will do. You might be sorry you said that =P And yes, I found the snakehead story a bit extreme but apparently they look very similar, the snakehead has a longer dorsal....?
Certainly, newfishies, and thanks!

Have you forgotten who I'm going with? Helping with fish would probably be much more fun than hanging out with my mother for an entire weekend!
J/K, I love my mother... just maybe not for 48 hours straight.

As for the snakeheads, I guess I can sorta see the resemblance -_-

Edit: If snakeheads weren't illegal I would have one in a New York minute!

Supposedly they had to bring a fish person in to properly ID them as bettas. Now I'm curious as to which species it was that caused a hub-bub
Coulda been the dimidiata

Anyway, I fear they won't make it in time for the show. We'll have to see, Wally's trying.

Have fun :-(

Hope you see cool bettas and all :).......This sucks why cant they have stuff like this in NYC......they only have 1 in NYS...but thats too far away  Ive always wanted to go to one of those things :-(

Anyways have fun and take pictures :)

Fingers crossed they arrive in time for the show!!! What a mess!! I don't envy the last minute rushing about you all will end up having to go through. But I'm sure the show will go great anyway.

So what will be done with them if they don't arrive in time? Will you be stuck shipping them back or will the club be able to auction them off on some other venue?

Well I got the Thai fish this morning, and I know Wally is at the airport this minute picking up SiamCrowntails fish. I also received 6 other boxes from American breeders already this morning, so today shall be a busy day.

Not sure what happens, MAM. Wally and I were discussing it last night and he say's we *could* go ahead and send them to First Coast Bettas show in a couple of weeks. We'll just hve to see what sort of magic he has managed to work since I talked to him last. He didn't call this morning, and no one was home when I tried to call him. He's supposed to come straight over after his airport trip so, fingers crossed.

I do hope that everything goes smoothly from now on Wuv and that all fish arrive in time. It sounds like you're going to be rushed off your feet but I hope all the hard work is worth it and you have a fantastic show :)

man I wish I lived closer than CALIFORNIA I would have loved to be a part of this sounds so exciting I've always wanted to go to a show...maybe Ill suddenly decide to go to college in texas for a while hahaha....good luck with the show though sounds fun!

Thanks Joby and Lady. The SiamCT fish are here now and.... :hey:  Oh baby!
He sent quite a few wilds, too. Plus, the Singapore fish are supposedly going to be here tomorrow, most of them anyway. I think Australia already has their fish back, so we'll at least get Team Betta Bite's fish (which also has LOTS of wilds)

Hi wuvmybetta,
Whats the latin name for the third (anabantoid) pic in your last post. (I quite like the look of it) Is it a male.
Regards
