Few days in now and seems good so far. Absolutely in love with this Mixteco Gold but the new Nic is being a bit of a #29### - will have to see how she turns out but got a feeling I will grow her on for a bit and move her on when I can in a while.

It kind of depends on tank size and dimensions and also depends on the genders of the FM and the BA as if they are breeding pairs you would need a big tank before adding anything else. If it was just 1 Blue Acara and 1 Firemouth anything up from about 90 gallons would work but if they are pairs (or even just because its 4 male or female cichlids) would mean that you are looking at a tank in the 5 or 6 foot range.

Doing good Both of the newbies are, the Nic is being a typical Nic and pushing everyone around already despite being the smallest fish in the tank.... The Mixteco is quite scared of the Nic as shes getting the most chasing but now the Nic is taking it out on my 7 inch Geos as well..... not 100% on what to do with her yet as the tank would be uber calm without her in it but she is colouring up gorgeous already.

Tell you what I was tempted by at Wharf - there was a green terror with its eyes a bit too close together, if you see it you will know what I mean It just looked a bit simple lol but in quite a cute way not sure how aggressive it would turn out but they looked quite cute

will sad to hear about your nic i sadly lost my nic whilst i was away and debating a replacement. i must say i love your geophagus and may have to ask my new lfs. (wholesale tropicals) about getting some.

Thanks guys Going to get some progress shots of the new guys tomorrow hopefully, the Nic who is now about an inch and a half has somehow got above my 7 inch Geophagus in the tank hierachy.... but dares not take on my Choc or Sev. The Mixteco is just getting on nice, just kind of doing her own thing - hopefully she will toughen up as she gets bigger otherwise I might have to choose between her and the Nic.

Both have coloured up brilliantly in 2 weeks! My nic is showing a lot of colour and a fair bit of blue in the face and when my Mixteco is being left alone she really sparkles
