Tank Update With Pics :)

Ruddy hell! Just been out to a friends for the evening got back and fish are a little stressed out and the Mixteco is kind of hovering in an odd spot flaring at everything.

Panic stations all round what the hell is going on.... oh wait!! There is a huge clutch of eggs under the Mixteco!!!! Seriously not had her a month and she is at it!!! Lets see how it pans out but will probably take them off her.

haha thorichthy species seem to love our water, is she controlling an area of about a foot square?

Cant be fertilised as shes the only one... only male is my Threadfin so doubt it :/

Shes not taken up much space so leaving her to it.

Absolute nightmare though I knew something was wrong, I did my usual water change today and it was filter clean this week and I have no idea why but the whole thing took ages compared to normal.... So not happy that the eggs were the only point of issue for the other fish I tested the water - though I have lost all my test tubes so had to go with mesuring cups so cant be 100% acurate but ammonia was around 0.25!!!! Hate it hate it hate it!!! So just done the fastest full water change ever!! And hope it will settle down - going to get a new test kit tomorrow so I can measure it all accurately.

You could have it atm Zod, afraid Im having the blues with it :/ Its just not the same since I lost Elsie. The hierachy has totally tipped over, the Geophagus are at each others throats, the two newbies are trying to establish them selves.

I guess that's the fine line you walk when stocking such a variety of cichlids. However, it appears to work out for you more often than not.....keep it up!

if not, I'll try and take it off you to help you out. I'm good like that.

Andy... LMFAO!!!!!!!!

Sorry mate, but that is just typical isn't it... You get all (mostly) females to reduce cross breeding and aggressions and they still lay eggs.

Mate, hang on in there, it will all right itself eventually. IF you rehome the Mixteco for any reason what so ever give me a shout and i will take her off you for sure! But, i am sure they will all be fine. :)

Good luck mate.

I dont get why she did it though.... the eggs are gone now but shes still hanging around in her area.... with my male threadfin..... surely that cant be possible?

Fish are looking a lot happier tonight not had chance to go get a test kit yet so just going by behavior (do as I say not as I do...) but yeah hoping its better now.

... just noticed the Mixteco tube is down again, how can she have so many eggs in her!!!

:hyper:

Blimey mate... If any eggs are fertile i would love a baby from you (the fish... ) if you let it get that far.

Glad they're looking better.

No I think the time has passed now but she is following the threadfin around a lot.... I guess they do look mildly similar :/
