Tank Equipment - Lighting Help At The Moment!

In general, you gets what you pay for and if you buy cheap, you buy twice.

My unit was Aquasafe or Aquaclear.. If forget which (Canadian/US I think). It was a quality item that someone had bought and never used and so put it on ebay. If you shop around you can get some good deals. I got about £800 worth of kit for £200 when I got my tank, so ebay can be a real bargain at times. You just need to research the items you buy before clicking that button :good:

AK77 you mean your RO unit is aquasafe?

It clearly say RO man on front? perhaps I missed something or we actually on about skimmers now?

No the TDS meter says RO man on the front. The RO unit itself is made by aquasafe, which I think are Canadian or American.

Nice neat setups!

I could possibly mount it under the kitchen sink (if the mrs lets me!)

@ Musho3210 - How long does it take you to fill that 5 gallon container??

5-6 hours, i got low water pressure, technically if i had good water pressure (around 70 psi) and good temperature (around 78 degrees) i should be getting 100 gpd, but instead with my low water pressure i get 20 gpd.

It all depends on your water pressure how long it takes to fill a container!

Heres mine I convinced wife to fit under sink ( I had to make everything fit that was the deal tho) You can see the hour marks on my container so at around 40-50 psi it takes around 5 - 5 1/2 hours to fill 25 litre container

during winter (when the tap water temperature lowers) the output will lower consistently as well.

Well thats my next purchase sorted then, just bought a (2P-RO50-DI-PROF) RO-MAN 50 GPD 4 stage ro unit WITH DI unit for £80. Also had a free TDS meter thrown in!!

@pengy666 - That is the exact place I had in mind for mine (washing mashine is in exactly the same place too!) the only thing is the mrs keeps the washing powder there. Think I may have to put it towards the back of the cupboard, plenty of room anyway.

Thats the only thing with this hobby, you gotta keep the mrs happy aswel!!!

The trick is that whenever you are about to make a major purchase, give the wife £20 and tell her to go out and treat herself to some new makeup or something. Then while shes out... you sneak in the new kit and expensive fish. Then when she spots said expensive fish at a later date you say... "Oh that thing? I had it in there ages, it was just in its juvenille colours before" :sly:

I'm sure Webster's Dictionary states the following

Marriage (noun) - The art of keeping marine fish and sleeping in the same bed as your wife at night

LOL!!!

Thats the thing though, whenever I'm nice to her she thinks I've other done something or want something!!

I've used that line though "I've had that ages, only now you've noticed!" lol

I have been bugging sophos9 about his T5 lighting but I have just realised that I am using a T8 light!!! :S

Are T5 lights better than the T8 ones? Are there any advantages of using the T5 lights? (Apart from being able to fit more in the hood!)

T5's are brighter due to the narrow size diameter of the bulb. The T size I think are based on 1/8th inch sizes. T8 being an inch. T5's being 5/8th's of an inch.

I think that's right... or I could be having a brain fart lol.

your right. Anyway T5 linears can have great reflectors and they also come in HO which is more light, less space.

In this picture of my tank the big one has 4 T5's and the little nano at the end has two T8's

The picture says it all!!
