just picked up a donated albino bichir from my store and i noticed all kinds of strange things about this one- not sure if it's a short body or just unusually stubby, missing tail and spines (he was housed with a parrot, not sure if that's the cause), strangely flared gill plates, and really really weird scales (almost lumpy or like they're too big for his body??). spoke to the guy who brought him in and he said this bichir is a hybrid of weeksii and a senegal that he bred but it seems unlikely. thinking of keeping him separate from my others for a while just in case he was picked on previously, but if anyone has any info on why his scales are so weird it would be helpful...i can't find ANYTHING on it! for as long as i've been keeping bichirs i've just never seen this- forgive the terrible pics he's still in the bag and isn't happy about it lol
