Frogspawn and hammers are some of the easiest hard corals to keep. You just need to be aware when when placing them that they can sting other corals.

That was my first hard coral, a frogspawn.

Have a look at the coral of the week Euphyllia's 14th August in the inverts section, we have all put our experiences of them there.

My cleaner wrasse appears to be missing. He has dissapeared before but normally appears again the next day. I have not seen him now since Tuesday. I have looked in the holes in the live rock that he normally goes in but can`t see him. He has been a bit more reclusive lately but normally comes out at feeding time.

Not sure what to do. I have just over 60lb of live rock so don`t see how I could dismantle it to look for him. I am fearing the worst that he has died somewhere and how this could affect the tank. Had a major crash in my first tank and would hate to see this happening again.

Any suggestions

Thanks

He could have shed his shell. They can be a little reclusive when this happens as the new shell is still soft. Hiding keeps them away from any predators.

ehh, Tina, don't think you read that right :p it's a cleaner WRASSE

If he has died it wont have much effect on the tank - his little boby will be fish and cuc food now

This morphine is driving me mad, your reet seffie, I read cleaner shrimp for some reason

You know that rock that you and Rabutt are going to crawl under, 3rd on the reet, I will see you there

I was going to put a couple of shrimps in over the weekend as I am starting to get a little more algae. Would you leave it for a while to be on the safe side?

Check you levels and let us know what they are.

Checked tonight.

Okay, looks like you may have lost the cleaner wrasse as your Nitrates have shot up. Do a water change and see if your levels stay below 10, preferably 0-5. If so, you should be ok to add something, I would think the cleaner wrasse was not getting enough of his natural diet and thats why you lost him.

bring some of the good stuff with you

Whats the best way to acclimatise a torch , hammer head and frogspawn coral?

If the SG is diffrent then yes I aired on the side of caution and dripped my new torch today :)

Meh just re-read sorry

I leave the bag in water for 30 mins to get to temp

Then move contents to a small bucket and drip with an airline with a knot in :)
