It's really been quite a while since I've posted, but life's been absolutely hectic. Inside out and upside down! And for the last few weeks I've been travelling in deepest Ecuador - which I have to say is just a most amazing country. I really fell in love with it. There's just too much to tell about and once I start, I can't stop. Suffice to say: go!
Sadly, I did not have time to do the Galapagos Islands as well - but a blessing in disguise in hindsight. Because this just gives me an "excuse" to have to go back.

I have 10 zillion photos, and will share just a little selection here. I am personally very happy and pleased with some of them. For several reasons: I was ill for much of the trip and it took all my energy and strength to make myself take some photos. Never mind be on foot and on the go for 5+ hours a day. But also, because most of these photos were taken on the move through crowds of people in front of me. I didn't have the time to stand and carefully choose and compose my shots. Thanks goodness for a telephoto lense!
Sadly also I only have a very basic (and I mean basic) grasp of the camera - and the only three settings I ever used (which were all automatic) were standard auto, portrait and landscape. So my aim for this year is to do a photography course and practice some more!

In Ecuador they believe that you steal the soul of someone if you capture them on photo. So I do feel a bit guilty about that - especially as 99% of these people in the photos had absolutely no idea that I was taking a photo of them. Despite some of them staring right into the lens! But it was a matter of capturing a moment through a crowd of people in front of me.

(I just realised that with the new board changes, my photos aren't all displaying at full size. Despite having already reduced them to about a quarter of the original size. So best viewed at the full size to avoid distortion).

A very small glimpse of the jungle - my lens is simply not wide enough to capture the expanse of the eternal stretch of water and jungle!

Nelly, I haven't done Columbia yet, but have a feeling it might be included as part of my next trip! Possible including Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua & Costa Rica. But will see. Oh Crikey and Galapagos. Too may places to explore! :hyper:

Naughtygirlrlw, probably about 50 metres away. Not sure how much in feet. But my telephoto lens was fully extended!

That's what they (the local guy) told me it was :look: though I guess quite possible - it was only a young one though.

Wouold you believe I was wondering where you were aswell, had not seen any posts for quite a while, you usually post where I do, so I noticed especially I think.

I have a gadget which fits over the end of my lenses which looks like a longer lens, but in fact is a hollow tube. Part way down the tube is a mirror angled at 45 degrees, and a hole in the side of the tube. With this, I can take pictures of things/people and to the casual observer, I am pointing the camera in an entirely different direction.

Nice pictures. I quite liked Ecuador.

Bloo - I believe that is a baby howler monkey - they are adorable when they are young, but can be quite noisy as adults. Great pictures, looks like you had a grand time, and nice to see you back.
