Starting A Nano Tank

Before worrying about the pH, get the SG up, you may find that this increases the pH in ratio to the SG too. If once you are running at an SG 1.025-1.026 your pH is still a little low, we can help you raise it a little.

Stable is always better than bang on figures, just get your SG where it should be first.

I just bought a cheap one to test the status of the cycle - e.g. i will remove him once i do not see any amonia or nitrite spike.

Count me out of this thread........... it's been many a year since we treated fish in this way, just to cycle or test a cycle

I was just about to put the same thing seffie.
hwoarangtag my mate just bought a rotweiler, it still bites, he is training in not to.
Can I put you in a room with it and take you out once he is ok?
I will no longer be posting in this thread.

Really? That's what the LFS guy told me to do. He said this is to ensure that the tank is ready.

Calm down everyone, I'm sure the fish will be fine, but yes it is inhumane. Dont worry hwoarangtang, its not your fault. All the LFS want is your money, remember they are just a business. As you have noticed now, they have sold a fish, and they have your money, you say you will return the fish, but they will not give you all your money back. They dont care about the fishes life as much as they should.

Anyway, instead of everyone boycotting the OP, the OP should boycott the LFS. Not everyone has no heart, most are just lead by someone who misplaced theirs.

The tank is ready for its first fish or two anyway, the cycle ended.

Anyway, if you like the damsel, keep it (depending on species, im no damsel expert), they are very easy fish to keep, but they just dont do well with other tank mates.
