Starting A Marine Aquarium

Sorry to hijack  ,

Going back to anemonie & Damsel fish, can a pair of clowns added after a yellow tailed damsel get a long all right?

Sorry again,

Tom.

no way in my opinion, Yellow tailed blue damsels are mardy and aggresive little buggers, clownfish are damsel fish and are naturally agressive, and the YT blue damsels are VERY AGGRESSIVE and will never get on unless there in a LARGE tank, one will be bullied or 2 in some cases and there will be no where for it to go. and it will probably die of stress

Oh ok, so its one or the other :good:

Are clownfish ok to start with when the tanks completly cycled and after CUC? Or are there any other fish?

yes clownfish IMHO are the best fish to start with in a marine aquarium. a mated pair are a great addition, such great lil' personalities and they will soon learn you mean food.

i dont mind you hi-jacking but then again this isnt my thread and im sure the OP dpesnt mind, because with hi-jacking you can solve 2 problems, IN the smae thread, at the same time and in the same reply

i am trying to bid on some things in ebay, hopefully it will save me some money hehe.

do you think that the Taam Rio Nano Skimmer For aquariums up to 20 gallons, 110 gallon hour pump will be okay in my 30gal??

And when the Rio pumps fail they will apparently wipe out the tank. Something they supposidely do regularly...

All the best

Don't forget their ability to send the tank live giving electric shocks to the aquarist. ;) (There is a great note on them somewhere on WWM IIRC)

The general advice on rio pumps is to avoid them like the plague.

oh okay. well someone said the one i asked about before was way too much lol. this is the one..

Aquarium Systems Visi-Jet Protein Skimmer

img3035879.jpg

Visi-jet is an economical protein skimmer for aquariums up to 70 gallons. Visi-jet ps has a turbo-venturitm injector system to mix filtered air and water within the pump impeller chamber, creating a froth of micro-bubbles for maximum skimming efficiency. The built-in flow meter provides accurate visual monitoring of true flow volume through the pump and into the protein skimmer. Micro-bubbles contribute to improved gas exchange. Dissolved organic compounds are separated from water to produce a concentrated foam mixture of waste products that is pushed up the column into the foam collection receptacle where it can be easily discarded. The directional output sends oxygen-rich water down and out into the aquarium. Visi-jet®ps protein skimmer uses a prefilter to filter out large particulates, algae, and aquarium animals, preventing them from entering the pump impeller chamber.
