right heres my problem. Me and my girlfriend bought 2 shubunkins about 5 months ago and jusy latley one of them has changed colour, origionaly it was white with orange pattern on it and over the past few weeks most of the orange has changd to black and ive also noticed that the tail has grown a hell of alot bigger than before. should i be worried about the change in colour or is this natural?

we've got two of the non-fancy slim line type. to be honest the fish that has changed colour looks really cool with the bigger tail and darker pattern so if your saying that the colour change is natural then i arn't complain.

Yes, shubunkin colouring can change as they mature.

I know Tokis knows this but I wanted to clarify for others who might read this. Tokis showed links to two pics but they are not both shubunkins. The round-bodied calico was Ryukin and the long-bodied calico was a shubunkin. They also have calico comets which get the longer tails so check out pics of calico comets and you may find your fish.
