A bit pricey, but maybe once my tank looks really good thanks
It is a bit expensive, especially since I changed out one of the bulbs almost immediately. Actinic for the Colormax

I haven't noticed any Co2 problems as of yet and at 61 watts for a 36 gallon it's only 1.694 watts per gallon. It's also very deep for it's size, so you have to assume it could use more wattage rather than less. Zach's 20 gallon has (2) 24 watt bulbs for a total of 48, which is 2.4 watts per gallon. I will venture into Co2 sooner or later but right now I need a better light fixture for my other 20 gallon. It only has a T8 15 watt bulb and the only plants doing well in it are Anubias & Java Fern.
Oh, and please post where I can get cheap ferts, thanks in advance.

Oh I thought I did post the link. Fertilizers.I haven't bought livestock here yet, but they were fantastic when I ordered plants and ferts. They even refunded some of the unused shipping.
Was just wondering with the plants. I would listen to what they say. No need for co2 right now if they are healthy.
You could start with just one or two plants, then add slowly. Lots of people grow them in gravel.
I would start with a stem plant so you don't have to worry about the roots needing food. They take nutrients from the water.
My Favorite stems right now are varieties of Bacopa. Looks like this. It has been the easiest plant for me, grows nice and tall and I have some in all of my tanks, from very low light, to very high.
Look up Anubias plants as well. You can glue or tie them to rocks, ornaments, or wood, and the roots will eventually attach it. They do wonderful in all light, and are pretty little plants.
There are tons of easy ones, but I liked starting out with just 2 plants and building from there. The tank in my signature only had 2 plants when I started and looks like that after 4 months of adding and addin and adding

That's one up on me, i actually managed to kill mine offMy Favorite stems right now are varieties of Bacopa. Looks like this. It has been the easiest plant for me, grows nice and tall and I have some in all of my tanks, from very low light, to very high.
Ok I am going to try this again. I moved a few things around and like this better....I know many do not like nick nak kinda decorations. But I have a home preschool and the tank is the center of the room. so I have to make it appeal to the kids. So my castle has to stay. Snow white lives in there ( pearl Molly) But I like the wood piece in the cnter . After looking at the pic on here I could see better wht I wanted. I would like to add live plants. But I am guessing my rocks would have to go So I will work on keeping fish alve for a few months and research the live plant thing.

Don't worry about opinions like that. It's your tank & you're the ones who'll see it, day in, day out.
The rocks could stay if you want.
Java Fern is a really easy plant to keep, and you could tie it (with cotton) to your wood piece. It'll look similar to what's in there now.
Oh yea, i like the 'after' pic

Lol Gotta wait a bit This Old Spouse. Still dealing with parasites from the fish I bought when my fishless cycle was over. Been months of treatment and still having issues. I think we pegged the problem finally thanks to Tolak. I wouldn't want to send out any plants that aren't safe.
Keep you in mind...I cut the tops and replant, so I'm gonna have a huge lot of it after awhile
Stu- Thanks for giving me your failure. I feel soooo talented now Just teasing. You plant guys with the lovely tanks give me a case of green eyed monster.
Weird it died off for you, must really like my water.
