Show Off Your Tank!

If you wash the sand properly it will only cloud the tank very slightly for a few hours, at most.

If the tank is reasonably new and there hasn't been time for too much mulm to accumulate, you might be able to change with the fish in. Syphoning the gravel, and any associated crud, out with a wide bore pipe, like a piece of hose would be your best bet.

From an opinion point of view, do you think Sand would look better in the tank? From the picture that is.

Definitely would look better, and much more natural.

Thankyou. I needed to simplify it. I have learned less is definitely more! Since adding the snails the plants seem so much healthier :good:

Thanks! I was planning to throw something in with mine, and that looks fun to swim through

I'd be too embarrassed to show my amateur tank after looking through this thread! AMAZING tanks!

I tought the same way before I posted! :)
You may just think your tank is bad because you see it every day. Post please, I want to see!

I actually glad I posted, that is the only memory I have of my tank. :) (It cracked and the fish died)

If you added apple snails and have a male and female prepare for hell! I have around 500 tiny apple snails now!

After looking through this thread, the idea of sharing my tank right now was frightening at first. The more I thought about it, the more I decided it could be helpful. I am sure nobody will run me down, but instead I could pick up some advice. So here goes. Here is my 125 Gallon tank, just a few days shy of 1 month old.

(sorry about the flash, I'm a terrible photographer)

So, sadly I do have two plastic plants in the center of my tank. That is for cosmetics until I can find the perfect rocks to build my cave in the middle of the tank. I'd like to then surround the back and sides of the cave with some tall plants to fill out the center. Some more driftwood is also in the plans. I also just added some root tabs in the substrate to try and boost the plants a bit. I'll see how that works. It's a slow process for me. The closest LFS is a few hours away so I'm only able to make a trip once or twice a month. What do you guys think? Tips? Suggestions?

Cheers,
Cody

thank you

The tank looks outstanding! Especially the 4th pic down. Maybe you should use it in your signature or as your avatar? Looks like you have a wide variety of fish in there too. Love the Ram, Krib, Angels & Cherry Barbs................

Looks great for only a month old. I'd look to add some wood & a background though, to break it up a bit. Oh. and your pictures will look better if you shut the flash off completely. Let the light of the tank do the work for you. Also make sure all other lights & TV's are turned off so you don't get competing light sources & bad reflections.

I dont know if you can see this pic,but this is my new tank. got it free off freecycle.com and is in good condition.
