Setting Up The 29g. Totally Psyched I Have Saltwater In My Living Room

Thanks everyone :D I really like the Picasso patterns.

oh that is excellent, you got the clowns you wanted :good: was that Beau in the background asking for attention  first of all thought it was turkey, but then realised it was a dog talking

lol yep that's Beau whining. I put him in the kennel to shoot the video and during the acclimation process. I didn't want him eating the fish or knocking over the container.

Since the tank is 4" off the floor, I acclimate with the container sitting on the floor.

A few crap pictures:

Goby was peeking out of his whole to see what the hell was going on..lol. I left the lights off yesterday due to the new fish additions and I turned them on for a few minutes when I placing the coral. The fish are probably all confused. I'll go back to my normal lighting cycle today and try to take pictures of my corals. Some are already open.

I'll take more pictures later today.

I was initially worried about my clowns at first. One was resting on the rock against the current occassionally. The clowns are still swimming around now though. I'm wondering if all the current in the tank was to strong for them initially. My k2 does 600 gph, Rio 800 200 gph, maxijet 1200 300gph.(Rio/maxi on the dual bakpak skimmer) Total is 1100 gph for a 29 gallon tank, which 37x tank turnover. Granted the flow through the skimmer would have been less by the time the water made it all the way through, but for now the skimmer pumps are still unplugged. I'll feed them tonight and then plug in half the skimmer tomorrow.

Nice Zoas :good:

You have been very lucky with the Pachclavularia too, usually they sulk for a few days before opening any polyps. :good:

Thanks. I'm really lucky. I had originally place it on the rockwork and it had fallen off in the middle of the night. Then it was a few hours after that until I could get to it. Oh and the puppy knocked the coral bag off the counter last night and all the corals hit the floor  I was soooo mad at him

Looks like they recovered ok and I hope it continues.

Don't worry about the clown, at night they do like to rest against a rock, in freshwater you would panic, but with clowns do not worry, it is completely normal behaviour.

Remember the clowns in my sig, that is how they are resting against the rock, honestly, Normal. :good:

ok. It just kinda freaked me out and then I actually added up the flow through my tank. It's a hell of a lot isn't it?? You figure it drops to 30x by the time the water gets through the skimmer?

So seeing them rest against the rock is probably the best way to take a pic of them!!

The flow ends up working out probably nowhere near what it would be like in the sea, although it does sound a huge amount when added up. ORA will have had high cirulation amounts I would have thought aswell.

It freaked me out the first time I saw them do it, it just beacme a normal habit. It is IMO the best way to photograph them, the wiggle too much and swim too fast to get a decent pic most of the time.

I will expect some nice cuddled up bed photos of them now

Well I sustained my first saltwater injury tonight

Was trying to scrape some coralline off of a few rocks that lrc member gave me to seed my tank and got my thumb and finger w/the razor blade Both on the same hand just separate incidences. I stopped after my finger. Shaved off part of the tip off index finger

Not to bad, but I stopped the operation. I could still put the shavings in the tank, just used my good hand :D
