seen a fish at my lfs

i think it's name was amouditis amouditis (it's name was repeated twice, it's not a typing error). It was sort of the shape of a pike, with a black / red stripe going down it's side. It was £12 for one and it only said that it should be kept with large fish.

Do you mean anostomus anostomus--the cigar (or striped) headstander? These are beautiful fish, though I've never had one so I can't report on its behavior.

They grow up to 7inchs and are apparently quite nippy/agressive fish and need at least 20 to 30gallons, they also need a ph between 5.8 to 7.5, heres a link about them;

I am not suggesting trout pout go out and buy the fish without knowing more about it. He is obviously interested in the fish and is in the process of researching it. So my suggestion is merely to let us know how it works it. It would be hard to participate in this forum and express an interest in knowing more if you have to be an absolute expert every time you hit "post"!

well IF you do go and get it trout_pout please reserh it,alot of people just thiink 'ooh that looks pretty and its really small perfect size'only to find it is too big to turn around a year later and it has eaten all the other fish
anyway i think you did really well not to buy it and come and ask us first!
