Second Attempt 110L

if you want colour i suggest a couple of aponogeton crispus reds, the Tropica plants are expensive, but Aquafluer now do them, so it might be worth giving aqua essentials a ring or if your Maidenhead do aquafluer, asking to see if they will order in for you.

Yeah definitely going to get a couple of them mate, what do you think of this plant Ludwigia glandulosa

Ohhh...I have looked at that scape!!

Glad your trying out color in this one. Get some black co2 tubing

Oh, right on! lol Now I am jealous, with my in-line heater I don't have much room to throw an atomizer on.

Still planning a new layout, just letting the plants I have grow out and fill in for now. My low tech is coming along nicely though... and slowwwwww.

Can't wait to watch this one. Hope all goes well :good:

Been looking forward to doing this for ages... but wanted to see if I could actually grow plants and not kill them!! so tried with the other tank and it's gone great. Looking forward to doing this one big time

Have made a start today on the tank waiting for it to clear up more and then I will do some more planting!! poss have some pics on later

Decided to go out for a drink instead and finished off today!!

Hmmm I'm not overly happy with the hard-scape, it's missing something?? maybe another piece of wood? some rocks? I'm not sure, but there is something not quite right...

I also need some advice on background plants as I need some inspiration, also my planting skills are pretty much non-exsistant! so any pointers on moving plants around would be appreciated too.

Anyway here are some pics, still a bit murky in there, but getting there. All comments positive and negative greatly welcomed.

It doesn't look bad, but I think that for the effect that you want to achieve the hardscape needs to be more prominent. I think that have you could achieve a look where the roots seem to come all from the same place (as if you have a trunk in the right back corner) it will make your scape stronger.

Maybe for that it would also be better to put the grass in the back only, to accentuate the wood, instead of obscuring it?

Thank you for the reply. There isn't really much behind the Japonica bar the bits of wood joining, I ordered a lot of wood and it just didn't really go bar those 2 bits, so I was thinking of maybe 1 more similar piece on the right hand side. I'm not at all happy with the hard-scape, the size of my tank has restricted a lot on how I wanted it to be like. Slightly dissapointed at mo as had been really looking forward to it! Will prob have another blast at the hard-scape tomorrow after work.

I think it needs some thing behind the wood, some stems or something bushy with maybe another piece of wood.
