I think it needs some thing behind the wood, some stems or something bushy with maybe another piece of wood.

I am going to plant behind the wood mate I was going to use myriophyllum mattogrossense and there is a peice of wood hidden that I'm probably going to attach some Microsorum pteropus trident, like you suggested... may see how it looks when I add the stems at the back

Update

Ok well have added some new plants to the back to try improve that (ludwiga repens 'rubin' and hygrophila corymbosa). Think I just need to wait and see how it looks when it all grows in.

With regards to the HC do I need to leave it to settle in before trimming as it seems to be just growing vertical!

Does look a bit leggy, I'd see if you can get some more flow to it mate. Needs a couple of weeks to root and loose any immersed leaves before trimming, if you trim before you might catch a sprig in the scissors and the whole clump will come out and its a pain to get back in once the tank is full. Liking the stems mate, give it time and a few trims and it will look much fuller.

Cheers for the reply mate. I think I'll give it a week or so and see how it does as the flow seems ok.. it's all swaying. I haven't added the powerhead yet so if no improvement I will add it. Liking the stems too... no room for anymore plants now as substrate covered either by plants or hard scape.

The one piece of wood sticking up is bothersome, but I think if the plants all around fill in it will look nice. Tough thing is just waiting around for nature to hopefully do you bidding.

The piece sticking up is part of the wood nearest the glass... yeah just need to wait and see what its like when the plants start growing... if it's not the way I want it I will start over!!!

Yes mate It's an Animal hoody, Love Animal stuff!! Good to hear yours started out the same too as yours looked ace after!!

A couple of pics, still not feeling this tank so I will more than likely change it weekend, have an idea which I think could work but we'll see

Have now added power head and have increased CO2

Ha ha top man, yeah animal stuff is top notch... I'll give it a few more weeks and then see how I feel bout it... I'm just very impatient which is not a good trait for planted tanks!! I will learn...one day

Thank you, not 100% sure if I'm going to tamper with it this weekend now may let it grow... but the idea was to bank the right side and then have the 'roots' coming out of the bank, with a bigger piece of wood on top of the slope looking like a tree trunk

Tank has taken a new direction, this is how it is looking now

The Crypts on the right will be replaced, although not entirely sure what with!?? there are 20 Cardinals in there at the moment...all hiding in the corner, will add the last 6 at a later date (when I can catch them) and then maybe next weekend move the 2 Blue Rams from the 70L in.
