Well a complete new direction for the tank this is how its looking now 16-06-2012

I wish to make a start on re-scaping my 100L.

Tank - juwel 100L
Lights - All pond solutions over tank unit (2 x 39w T5)
Substrate - To be decided
Dossing - Will have pressurised CO2 through an UP Atomizer, 10ml TPN+ daily , 4ml easy carbon daily
Filtration - Tetratec ex1200
Circulation - Hydor Koralia NANO 900 Circulation Pump

The Idea for the tank is to have a 'tree roots' look at one end of the tank with a HC carpet, I have bought most of the wood and it has been soaking away now for around 4 days. I will still need to get some more to add a bit of hight, maybe 1 larger piece as the pieces I have right now are quite small!!

The substarte I would like to use ADA Amazonia again, found this to be brilliant in my last tank. the 110L does contain some ecco complete. Which would be best for growing a HC carpet?

The Lighting will 2 39w T5's be sufficient I think its just over 2.5 WPG so to me that seems ok, or should I get the 4 x 39w, would that be over kill??

I have taken inspiration from that start of a tank I viewed on another forum (an aquascaping one) am I allowed to Link to the actual thread I gain inspiration from??

Picture of how tank looks now Low tech

The plants floating are cuttings from 70L which I will probably use in new scape.

Have also bought an aquanano 40!! looks awesome! will use this to store fish while I rescape and then use as a breeding tank for my CPD's and cherry shrimp!

Any idea's or thoughts greatly appreciated!!

hey Jay...just a few pointers, for me the Amazonia would win every time, but columbo florabase is also very good and a little cheaper. They also do different grain sizes. The eco complete doesn't contain N and P either, which IME works wonders at the beginning of a tanks life, especially a higher tech tank.

keep with the 2 tubes mate...you have less room for error with 2 T5's even though this would be classed as high light imo as T5's tend to have a good PAR.

you can show the pic, as long as you reference who did the tank :good:

Thanks Ian
I will prob go with amazonia then after the great success in other tank.

ok so here is the photo, It belongs to someone called Ady34

This is the sort of hard scape I wish to achieve.

Ady has achived well with this scape, he has struggled a little with C02 distribution, but the scape itself is great. Good luck with it mate, and i'll be keeping tracks. :good:

Thank you. Yeah I just really liked his hard scape, i'd been searching net for inspiration and saw this and was like bang yeah that's it.

Need to re-home 8 peppered corys now!!

If its anything like your other tank then this is going to be amazing!

Good luck mate! :)

I like the idea Jay, im sure it will look great! did I miss the plants you're going to be using?

That looks like a really deep substrate or is it just the size of the tank?

Thank you mate!! I will do my best! Very happy with other tank hopefully will be equally happy with this one

That hardscape looks ace! I would put some tall plant behind it and have the carpeting plant only so you can still see the hardscape once the plants are grown in. Why do you want to rehome your peppered cories?
Yeah I'm going to carpet using HC, the corys will be going as they will likely dig up the HC and mess about with the substrate... will be a shame really like them...

The only plants I've definitely decided on are blyxa japonica and HC, with poddibly some myriophyllum mattogrossense as I like it and its fast growing! so any suggestions on plants would be greatly appreciated!!

Have bought 2 bags of ADA Amazonia today! Itching to get started but waiting still on a few bits!

Microsorum pteropus trident or needle on some of the wood up the back would look nice.

Loving the look of Microsorum pteropus trident, like you say would look great on some wood towards the back. Also looking at maybe adding some colour to it, as my other tank is...well ...rather green!

I even like the wallpaper used in your inspiration tank.
Deep purple as a background colour.
