some more pics for you so far so good with the corals seem to have settled down and the polyps seem to be open and healthy :D

noticed my nitrates have climbed a little to 15ppm-20ppm due a water change tomorrow can adding corals raise your nitrates initially??

i know the pic of the snail is a bit random but i don't see much of him normally buried in the sand such a shame because he's really cool 8)

Thats odd, nitrates dont usually bloom for coral additions.

well done water change got nitrates back down to about 10ppm might do another water change in a couple of days going monitor stats everything looking ok at moment so not over worried

ive got to say im a big fan of your tank. i think im gonna try and do something similar. that or ill just make complete different :p

thank you rhysmyboy
anyway i think the great thing about fish keeping in general is everyone has their own idea's about how their tank should look which makes it all the more intresting to look at others like on this forum etc
look forward to seeing your tank soon :good:

think i might have found source of my nitrate prob took sample of my RO water to lfs and the TDS was 30 think i read somewhere on a thread that someone was having trouble getting nitrates down and they found their RO unit was no good,
so it looks like my carbon filter and suspended solids cartridges need changing got them ordered

would a TDS reading of 30 have that effect on my nitrates though because when tested no nitrates where showing in my RO water?

TDS reading of 30 is not good. Have you flushed your membrane recently? If not, do it quick.

Could for sure. It would definitely decrease the effectiveness of your water changes. Just ask Miss Wiggle or BigIan about how a fould up membrane kept their nitrates high ;).

If you've never flushed your membrane since you owned the unit, I'd do that first. Most new RO units come with a flush kit so that should be pretty straight forward for ya

i knew i had read it somewhere cheers ski never flushed the membraine had it 2nd hand of a mate so not sure how old the filters are either so ordered new seddiment and carbon cartridges then will flush then no kit with this unit you just remove the waste pipe and shut off the clean water pipe and then just run the unit with the water coming out of the waste
in the meantime goin get my water from LFS

Yeah, I flush monthly to keep particulate in my RO discharge down :)

had a new addition today a small button polyp :drool
