Right guys, I got an update for you. First of all, because I am lacking any photography skills, here are loads of snail pictures to bore you. At least they don't dash away from the camera
Slimon and Mishell getting jiggy
Oh look! A fish! This is Poppy, and she is as usual about to pop Will try and get pics of other platies soon.
Ok, back to serious business now. I think I have completed the Iwagumi tank. I personally love it, so please be nice and tell me that it's PERFECT (pretty please ). Weeping moss and flame moss will be here tomorrow, this will be planted from the right hand side going left.
Iwagumi - In my opinion i don't think the rock is big enough. Either that or the tank is too big. I also prefer to see rock placed in the middle for Iwagumi scapes, but that's my opinion i guess.
It will be fully carpeted with weeping moss, so the right hand side won't look this empty once it's all grown. I am also going to add fire moss around the rocks.
We tried it in the middle last night, but it didn't look right. Especially as from where I am sitting now (my spot in the living room) I look at it from an angle, basically from the right, hence the emphasis on the left hand side was the nicer option to look at. I think the problem is that the tank is very high, but hopefully once fish swim there it will look better. Have to confess, got myself already a shoal of blue dwarf rainbows (in 4ft tank atm) and I can imagine them looking awesome in there. They are top swimmers, so should nicely pretty up the top.
Should I wait til tomorrow and plant my moss and see what we think then? I really like it, but I still want to get 'Iwagumi' right.
Minnnt, don't worry about your rock. The man wants his malawi now, so will be used in future
Again, I know zilch about this iwagumi biznass but I think you maybe need something to give more height in there, but maybe that's against the feng shui or some something or other
If they do stay at the top then why not consider a secondary shoal of Ember Tetra's? They stay low and would contrast well as they're orange in colour.
If the tank looks nice to you then that is all that matters. You're the one that has to look at it day in, day out. The moss will transform the look of the tank anyway.
And I totally see what you mean about the view. It has a lot to do with the way I scaped my tank too because I sit to the left I put the larger bits of the hardscape to the right
