yeah that tank you've got Trod is a bit special!!


not water yet, need to go and get some more pipework now!
am splitting the return at the top of the weir to go to two opposite corners, so need to go get some solid and bendy pipe, and 90, and 45 degree bends.

Bit of a pain, my new skimmer still hasn't pitched up!

think of worried the missus! i phoned her up and siad that the tank had arrived and that it was massive!

anyways be back later when i've got me pipework.

searched thru 2 aquatics, a plumbing merchants and a B&Q and can't find any piping that'll go with what i've got. heading down to South West Marines in the morning otherwise i'll need to order some from where i got tank from.
bummer!

building light supports now with wife who is trying to calm me down

ok so a bit calmer now.

we've got it into position and have built the frame to support the halide.
its sooooo bright!

think we need to get a higher pelmet around the top of the tank, gonna speak to the cabinet builders tommorrow to see if they can do one for me.
Current one is around 4.5 inches high but i think it will look better to have one to the bottom edge of the halide (less light spillage then)

anyways here's a quick pic.

knackered now, so gonna have something to eat and go to bed!

i'm pretty sure its a 10k bulb.

plan is to try and get it wet later on today.

I am watching with interest you have some really good ideas there i especially like the miracle mud & cheato rufugium over the main sump. Keep the pics coming its looking good so far

mmm well i think my plans are gonna have to change slightly.
the sump is mahoosive, so i think i'll struggle to get anything to fit above it!
might have a top and lower area within the same sump, but gonna have to have a think about it.

first problem is the plumbing!
have had to order some bits from coral culture, so hopefully will get then early next week.
gonna get some silicone today to secure the bulkheads then plan on filling the main display area but not up to the weir level. that way i can get rid of all the tubs of water and rock i've got lying around and test the vortech pump out.
just gonna run it as the main display only till i get the plumbing bits and fix them in place then i'll add more atwer and open the ball valves and get the sump running.
