Rob's 3X2X2

Nice looking additions :good:

Any plans for the next fish yet??

Cheers,
stocking wise i'm gonna stick to lots of small fish (sort of 3 inches max).
really loving your wrasse, but never seen one round our way! any ideas where i may be able to get hold of one from?

also gonna get a shrimp and goby pair.
love the look of the hi-fin banded goby, and SW marines had one in, but no pistol shrimp.
also like the yasha goby.......

i'm limited stock wise because of the size limit i've imposed, so i think most of them are gonna be small gobies of some sorts.
does anyone know of any compatibility issues between gobies?

If any of your LFS use TMC, ask to see the stock list for wrasse / Dwarf parrotts, I went through their stock list and chose a particular one then the lady ordered another (the one my mum liked) so that I could choose between the two when they arrived at the shop.

The same goes if you want the shrimp partner for the goby, they will always order them for you, especially if you have spent a reasonable amount of money in the shop.

I remembered you were looking at lots of smaller fish rather than few larger fish, this is why I wondered if you had decided yet. Must admit, a few of the wrasse would look stunning.

not decided on particular fish, but i think i will take your advice and see if SW marines can order a wrasse like yours in.
think i will just see what i can find in the various LFS i frequent. thats the thing about this hobby you never know what you might find in the shops.

been seeing quite a few bits of my green and red favia for sale in the shops recently at crazy prices (2-3 times what i paid) for pieces that are maybe a third of the size of mine.
don't know whether i got a cracking deal or the prices for that particular coral are going up?

its this one:

the price of LPS is sky high at the minute. They seem to be really popular. Plus there are the new import charges.
SPS seem reasonably priced at the minute tohugh, as you found out the other day :good:

well it looks as though i've caught the diatom bloom which was starting. Its now all gone, and the algae which was starting to cover the glass has all but gone now also.
Was gonna add a load more snails today, but i think i probably only need a couple more now.

Glad i noticed what was happening (i.e. brown tinge to a few areas of sand) and added rowaphos to the skimmer.
My sump is all but green now!, but i don't mind it being green down there. Means more food for creepy crawlies, which by the way there are masses of them in the sump now! :good:

sadly there are also a load of aiptasia and some weird looking anenomes that have luminous green bodies?
They came in on the macro algae i got from the guy at the LFS. His main display must be crawling with these pests!
i assume they can't do any harm down in the sump though?

all fish are fine. New damsel is feeding well and there's been no aggression in the tank what so ever.

The missus wants to go down to SW marines today so no doubt we'll come back with something.
She wants some more LPS and some purple muchrooms.
I'm after a shrimp/goby pair.

will let you know how we get on.........

Rob

well if the aiptasia release nematocysts into the water, they can settle and a new anemone can grow from it, so exterminating them all would be best IMO.

Looking forward to seeing what you come back with :good: so does Mrs Rob like the salty world?

new corals acclimatising.

doesn't look like much for £135 does it.

There is:
1 Orange Fungia £40 (just need to get a green one now)
5 x various high colour zoas £70
4 green Ricordeas £25
and 2 astrea snails. £5

was lucky i didn't spend any more. the missus was rather taken with (what i thought) was an ordinary pinky looking soft coral. That was until she asked how much it was, and the bloke said it was a fox coral and was £150

NO WAY!!!
£150 for an amazing rainbow acan, scolly or blasto maybe, but for something that looks like a cabbage coral, no thanks i'll pass.

Rob

Hi rob the tanks looking really good can’t wait to see the new additions in there. And only £25 for 4 Ricordeas you got a good deal there m8t there £12.50 each head in my LFS :good:

Which shops do you frequent? Only asking as im a local (as you know) and again I will be buying marine things in the future (again as you know!)
I popped into the new Real Reefs in chelt today and it is a really good set up, the guy has loads of advice and is very knowledgable...but im still a newbie so I might be wrong!
The new tank looks amazing by the way! Hopefully will get too see it in person soon!
