Juwel Record 70, Lighting Upgrade - Finished
(Link wont work for some obscure reason).
To see how I upgraded a freshwater tank lighting.
You could do similar only using T5's

I got the list from PFK magazine. So now im just reading up on them all, and reading beginner corals, fish, inverts etc.
If anyone would like to give me a few corals/fish that you recommend then please go ahead.

Regards

looks like a nicelist!

how many gallon is it mate? 15G?

I like xenia, and hammer corals, but not sure how easy they would be :)

Hey mate.
95 litres = 20.89707 Imperial gallons
So we will call it 20g.
I still need to read a lot more on all the things.
Is it good to get the corals first or fish?
What happens if I have to much live rock?
I was hoping around 20-25kg.
I have that amount of coral rock in it now and its just nice.
The thing im debating is where to get the live rock from,
I would love to try and spot the baddies, but im guessing you will only get them if you buy it from LFS.
Do you somtimes get lucky with corals from LFS on the live rock you purchase?
Im guessing if I bought them from a tank breakdown it would just be purely LR.

Regards

Reading this makes me want to try the Salty side, I keep on thinking yes, then I think about the cost, maybe when I get my 6x2x2 tank I can turn my Trigon 190 into a marine?

degs I thought about the "cost" side it myself. Im selling all my unwanted things, and most of my tropical things, Also if you take your time with it, buy say 1-2 things a month or w.e then you can do it cheap. And grab yourself some real bargains! Im even selling my ipod touch which I have had for only 2 days

Oh the joys of fishkeeping.

He he I know what you mean, I will read your journal with interest, It woulod be good if you posted your costs as well, I always think about marines as costing 1000's and loads of work.

The problem is that we have decided to go to Florida next year (first holls for 9 years) so I am really looking forward to that.

Maybe I should strt making and selling slate caves and LED lighting systems to genereate some cash. Hmmm, now there's a thought

Ok - I will post all the prices.
Will be a month or so before I purchase things though I think.
Unless I come across a real bargain ofc.

I only have one tank set up at the mo.
And was planning to get the DPs after july.
but instead im going to start a marine tank.
Im just wondering if x2 3000L/H powerheads would be ok for my tank
I would have one on each side

should be okay, you dont want any dead spots :)

i say fish first then corals =]

dont worry about cost, it WILL put you off. i should know :(

I could have been half a year into nano reef keeping by now lol =/

take your time, keep an eye out! ill keep an eye out for you mate!

Thanks bagu.
Im wondering about the protein skimmer.
Would it fit on with the kid of hood I have?

Ditch the lid mate, go with a T5 luminaire (second hand) and your protein skimmer will fit on the edge of the aquarium. Only problem is the pump which feeds the skimmer will have to reside in your tank. (remember what I was saying about sumps they hide all the equipment).
Why do you just hang about and pick up a second hand Red Sea Max this would solve a lot of your problems. Check out the dims on their site to see if you have the room

Ok.
I have decided to sell the tropical equipment.
Even the tank I was going to use.
And get a Orca tl 550
do people think this is a good idea?

Also, What else will I need if I buy this tank?
Just the two powerheads?
Then ovbiously LR etc.
