Red-Tailed and White-Tailed Shark

red tailed shark, do you mean red tailed black shark Epalzeorhynchus bicolor?

as for the white tailed shark, I :dunno:

What information do you need?

This is what I can tell you about the Red Tailed Black Shark off the top of my head...

They should be kept in a tank of about 200 litres+. They prefer a neutral pH, but mine is happy in 8. They should be the only one of their kind in the tank as they are very agressive towards their own species and aggressive towards other fish of the same shape, so no Bala sharks / rainbow shark etc in the same tank. Other bottom feeders may bare the brunt of their tempers as they are terratorial and will guard their patch. Mine eats pretty much anything, including bloodworms, daphea, brine shrimp and will sometimes have the odd flake. Sexing is difficult, but females have a lighter belly than males (which have completely black bellies) and are slightly rounder around the body. They grow to around 13cm and in my opinion are stunning fish, with a real personality.

White tails also leaves me going.... :dunno:

I think white-tails are the same thing just a different color. Would a Red-tail bother a snail?

If they are white tailed sharks at the shop then i would get one if i was you as true white tailed sharks are very rare!

Well a RTBS tank should be one of at least 30 gallons and prefferably heavily planted. If the only other animal in a tank of this description is a snail, I doubt the shark would pick on it. If the tank is over-croweded, too small or lacks hiding places, the shark most deffinately will start bothering the snail.

I've never heard of a 'white-tailed' shark. There are albino versions of the RTBS but they don't resemble anything I would call 'white tailed'...
