Hi all, my RTBS jumped out of his tank the other day? is that normal? he managed to beat his way past the condensation tray and land on the desk!!!!

Can anyone recommend some small tank mates for him? could he live with dwarf puffers?

Stu

I would recamend any catfish and loaches. I have yoyo loaches with mine, and they are the best of friends and both live in my plastic castle together. I also have corydoras catfish and plecos with him and they are fine. I wouldnt recamend gouramis though, mine used to chase them a little. But he got used to them.

Oh and it is normal for them to jump. Just cover up the holes in the aquarium cover so there are no places he can jump out of.

yes it is normal that he jumped out as they do jump and it is reccomended that there is a hood on the tank they are in. Small tankmates could include danios, I believe u have a post about rtbs in the noob section tho i may be mistaken, either way there is one there which i just posted a link in and some information.

Not nesarsarily true at all, because RTBS vary so much in their personality and to what degree they are agressive and territorial, even some of your fish in your list would not be safe to put with certain RTBS, particularly slow fish like gourami's (which cannot out-swim RTBS, so make easy victums for them), and the sucking loach which will become increasingly agressive/territorial as it grows (if yours is a chinese algae eater) and have conflicts with the RTBS since they enjoy the same territory and foods (not to mention the gourami will make an easy target for a sucking loach, as known as a Chinese Algae Eater, as CAE's like to latch onto the bodies of flat bodied fish like gourami's and suck their protective slim coat off etc as they grow).

Wow, Id say that a red tail black shark would tear through that list of fish in time for dinner.
