Well, my cousin managed to do it a hundred times, so I'll ask him for his tips

Here are a couple of friends I made last september while I was bow-hunting. You meet the nicest people in the mountains...

I have run into several moose while hiking out west in the woods and stay way from them when they are with their calf just like elf. I had a herd of over 200 elk run right by me in a long line with their young in Colorado Rocky National park. We have a few moose here but you do not see many of them. Do you use a tree stand?

Same here--they're around but it's fairly uncommon to see one. I was glad this lady didn't have a calf in tow. ha ha

I don't use a tree stand. I mostly wander around, sneaky as all get-out, and try to spot them before they spot me, at which point I commence being even more sneaky, attempting to sneak up on them in a most sneaky manner.

I also do some calling for elk. It's really fun talking to them and hearing them talk back. More and more, though, they just come in silent because there are so many doofuses bugling off the backs of four-wheelers, the elk have become pretty call-shy. So basically, either I'm sneaking up on them, or they're sneaking up on me.

That is a lot of sneaking happening :p

It is impossible to describe the adrenaline rush I experience when confronted with a screaming, 600 pound animal who thinks I'm his girlfriend. Or even better, his girlfriend running off with his rival. That really gets them, um, excited. Thus far, they have all realized their mistake before anything untoward has happened.

Those pictures, the area, beautiful!
The main thing I'd like to visit the states to see is all the different wildlife. No elk, raccoons, cougars or bears wandering the woods in the UK.
The most dangerous encounter I had with a wild animal here was a badger. I was when I was wandering through a trail in some long grass at dusk, and this badger jumped onto the path right in front of me, and huffed at me, clearly not happy that I was disturbing him! I turned and beat a hasty retreat. If anyone would have the bad luck to be savaged by a badger, it would be me, and it would be mortifying.
