I'd hate it in Texas! The UK's humidity in the summer is bad enough, I think I'd just keel over and wither away anywhere hotter.

Not near the coast, where I'm at...West Texas is much drier, some deserts out there, even...check out Big Bend State Park, beautiful country

Why is it that when your laptop develops screen problems (horizontal stripes of bright green or text stretched to 10 times it's normal height, both of which stop the mousepad working) so you buy a new laptop only to find the old one works perfectly?
On the plus side the new one has an SSD drive so it's a lot faster turning on/off and loading things. The downside is I had to find out how to alter the colour settings as everything was tinted blue. I think it's just about sorted now.

I'm due to retire in a few years, and we're thinking about moving back east somewhere: Michigan, Illinois, and Missouri are ranking high on the list of possibilities right now. But I'm not sure how I'd handle the humid summers where it doesn't cool off at night. It gets hot here, but it's dry and it cools off at night because we're up so high. So, might have to go visit those areas for a few weeks in the summer to see if it's livable.

Just curious what laptop you bought? I just bought a new chromebook that works much faster on our site..
It’s a convertible chromebook with a fast intel i3 chip and 8 gb ram..it can be used as a laptop mode and a tablet mode. It usually goes for $630.. right now it’s $450 on Amazon.
