Annnyway, Im still hoping you'll change your mind to get that beautiful Oscar fish. He will always go crazy when you walk into the room. They are super smart. And very loveable, and colourful...and loyal

My Oscar is so smart, he started to recognize me after only a few days.

WHAT! Clown loaches are awesome. You should reconsider.

Watch it if you go for the bumbleebee cats as there are 2 species often found under that name and one is quite aggressive. The easiest way (IMO) to distinguish them quickly, is by looking at the tail - the aggressive one has a deeply cleft, scissor-like tail while the peaceful one has a speckled delta-shaped tail. In reality, they look very different, but with the confusion with names, sometimes they can be mistaken.

Also, loaches aren't limmited to clowns... Have you considered some khulies? I could show you some pictures that would make you fall in love with them instantly but finding them (search this forum) is another matter .

Are you planning on including some kind of schooling fish? I'd go for harlquin rasboras

Nice tank BTW - can't wait to see it ready and fully stocked.

And I think your descision to go for what's best for your fish is admirable considering you would have preffered an oscar yourself.

I already did that and it hasn't cycled yet. I don't know if it is already cycled that is why I never got the spike in nitrite or if it just hasn't spiked yet. Both filters ran in the cycled 29 gallon for a few days and then I stuck it in the 120 gallon along with some gravel from the 29 gallon and I added ammonia for about a week and never saw a nitrite spike. Could the tank already be cycled and just converting the ammonia into nitrates?

I have like 5 nitrites and 20 nitrates but I accidentally spilled a lot of ammonia in the tank today.

I already have one bumblebee cat and he is the peaceful one I am assuming since I have had him for a few months now and he doesn't even come out until nighttime and he just searches for food and leaves everyone else alone, even the neons! I know the LFS that sold that one to me so I will just buy the rest from them figuring they will be the same type. If not I will just look for the tail differences. Thanks in advance!

I LOVE khulies. I had one...but by the time I got him home for a few hours he died. Water params were normal and I didn't know what happened. I know they liked to be in groups but the poor thing was in the tank at the LFS with the glass cats so they just scooped him up along with the glass cats. He was so tiny. He probably was weak or already ill or something. My boyfriend loved him so I will probably end up getting about 5 of them. You can send me the pics though! I would love to see them. Here is my new AND improved plan for the tank:

5 female bettas
10 neons
10 glo-lites
5 red tailed rasboras
1 female dalmation molly (she had 7 fry so I will keep all of the females with her. I don't know how many there are yet because they are too young to tell. The males will stay in the 29 gallon or get donated to the LFS. )
5-6 bumblebee catfish
6 glass cats
4 german rams
4 discus
5 khulie loaches
5 albino cories
5 green cories

Tank just finished cycling today with the help of my 29 gallon. I ran the filter sponges in the 29 gallon for a few days and now everything seems to have cycled! I did an 80% water change and filled it with fresh water and added dechlor. Now I just have to wait for the heaters to warm up the water to the right temp and I will be adding the fish tomorrow. I'll post pics when I get a chance to take them tomorrow.

Too little, not too much. I would add another 2 pairs of Rams into that tank, and maybe think about taking out the discus. Wait a bit before you get Discus, juuuuust in case. Unless you can find them cheap, then by some and send some to me!

Hehe. I won't be adding any discus for anytime soon. Probably a few months ATLEAST before I get any discus in there. I fished out all of the fish from my 29 gallon into the 120. It looks even bigger with such tiny fish!

It took me a good hour and a half to get them out. And I didn't move the pregnant molly as I didn't want to stress her out too much. I also couldn't catch the rubber nose plec.

Oh well, they don't know what they're missing out on. I kept telling them, "Just get in my net, nothing bad is going to happen, you're going to a big huge tank!" But for some reason they wouldn't listen...especially the neons.

Oh and my bumblbee catfish decided to jump from his bowl into a cardboard box on my brother's dresser beside the 29 gallon while I was putting the other fish into the tank. Luckily I saw his clumsy butt wriggling around like a maniac.

Above dims give you 454 litre or 100g (uk) which is 120 g (us) - though when calculateing the height measure upto water level. and if you want to get more precise then you should deduct about 10% for displacement of decor/gravel etc....
