I am in a mood today and decided to open a thread to show the progress of my common pleco growing over a year period.
I first had him in my 30G, then moved to a 100G(about) and he's been there since january/february this year. He seems to have doubled in size for that period of time but I am wondering if like any long lived fish he'll slow down afterwards. I don't know how big he is exactly, but when he opens his mouth he should be able to fit 4-5 guppies at the same time if he wants to  and will definately fit a chunky cory and more.

I have to post them in different posts as the site won't let me put all at once :grr:

November 2011 a few months after I bought him. He was obsessed with the curved glass.

February 2012, moved to a bigger tank but still obsessive about curved aquarium glass.

And this is from today September 2012. He spends his day polishing the driftwood and does the glass at night but will come out for food anytime, especially cucumber:

Couldn't get the third video embedded, can't figure out this website  But you can copy the link and paste it into the browser to view.

hes lovely

I love the ugly thing  I bought my third tank specifically for him and he is such a cleaning machine. I've never ever touched the glass to clean it from inside. Wish he could come out on the outside from time to time :fun:

I'll try to post the video from today again to see if it gets shown properly:

Just one more video from today for the record. The pleco appears in the second half. He's made a boat out of the cucumber already(he poops the same colour afterwards ). The clown loaches love it and even the corys and platies nibble on it if the cucumber is left unattended for a while.

Well mine is Pterygoplichthys disjunctivus which grows to 16.9 inches(43cm) max and considering that in aquarium this would be even less(or I hope ) it will be another 9 inches max and that is from top to tail if I am lucky.

o right good good for you and your gravel cleaner lol #poop machines

Honestly, I have sand and there's nothing on it. The 2 filters take it all and I have directed a powerhead to move the waterflow additionally towards the intakes, the sand is spotless. The only thing I can't get rid of easily are the snail shells left overs from the clown loaches feasts  Even a siphon doesn't work, too heavy :grr:

lol i used to have that problem what snails they eat mine eat ramshorn and malasian trumpet snails :shifty:

I used to have pond snails before I added the clown loaches. Now I have pond snail shells  , still collecting them for months after they ate the snails.
