Well yesterday i got my 10g split set up everything great. Mr blue was happy no filter on his side as he hates the current. Mr Red is happy current doesn't bother him. Woke up this morning both still great no flaring at each other. Was sitting at my comp for a while looking on here :) and went to go feed then and Mr.Blue was on Mr Reds side of the tank Plastered to the divider because of current. Scooped him up real fast put him on his side.( i think he is devastated due to current). I was wondering if anyone else has had a betta jump the divider before? what can i do to stop that?

Answer: baffle the filter!
It's as simple as a plastic water bottle cut up and put over the filter outlet.

Search it on YouTube, works fantastic!

Then I'd try to figure out HOW the Betta ended up on the wrong side!!! Because if he did it once, he can do it again!
One of my females managed that trick recently and got her fins torn up by the male. ...She is in a tank with a FULL lid and lowered water level now!

well i plan on doing that and the only way for Mr Blue to get over is jump and it does have a lid the divider goes as high as possible but there is still space. as I am writing this Mr.Blue has jumped over again and is in Mr Red side they arent fighting as of yet gotta get him outta there.

well on monday i bought myself 3 betta from vicki 1 male and 2 female when i got home i had to stick the male into a breeder as my heater for his tank was playing up and broke :( so after they were settled and seemed ok i went to bed. next morning i woke to find an empty breeder and a very happy male betta swimming around my community tank :D flaring at himself in his reflection from the heater lol so i watched him for a little he had recived no damage from the females or from his great escape (luckily) so i scooped him up and put him back in his breeder this time i added a polysterene lid to the breeder and thought nothing much more of it untill that evening at 10pm ish when my mrs noticed he had once again escaped his prison but this time i could not find him inside the tank i thought he may have jumped out of the tank all together past a very very small gap on the other side of the tank ( would have been a great feat but possible) so i frantically looked around the floor and stuff and still couldnt find him then my mrs found him he had wedged himself behind the filter in a gap about 5mm wide and he had managed to hide there so i carefully took the filter off to let him out ( wasnt sure if he could get out or not) and this time poor little guy had taken a bit of a beating (dunno if it was from his escape or if the females beat him up) so this time called for a drastic prison so i got a food container that fits on top of the tank instead of to the side its much bigger than his breeder but more importantly its the only thing i had that would fit directly under the tank lid and sure enough this has donet he trick and he cannot escape as the lid is wooden (i havent witnessed him jumping to try he may be to scared to now after ripping his fins up lol) its been 3 days and he has not escaped he seems to enjoy being there flaring through the bottom of the container at the females who come and say hi almost in a rotation now :D

They are little crafty Buggers lol. i got the filter baffled and lowered the water level so lets hope he cant jump over again. i think Mr Red is getting tired of it. silly boys.

I had my first crazy escape artist recently as well!
When I got my white birthday Bettas I had them all originally in covered 1 gallon Betta boxes... The long rectangular kind so they could swim if they were so inclined. Somehow one of my females managed to jump the top into her brother's condo... She got a little beat up, and then started laying eggs when I separated her and she saw a male! The little Weirdo was determined to do that reproduction thing I guess... I am still trying to figure out how she managed to pull off that little feat...
Needless to say she is now in lock down with a fully covered and locking lid and lowered water level!

It's funny, I've had a lot of fish, even jumpers (my long fin danios and butterfly koi were convinced they should have been dolphins) and I've never seen anything like what this little Betta managed to do (I did not witness it, but just what had to happen for her to pull off getting from where she was to where she wanted to be) before she went on lockdown.

Fish are fun!

They are we watched Mr blue jump over lol. The things they manage.

this is how i caught them the second time mr blue jumped over.

I am glad your ordeal wasn't as bad as mine, but I know how yoe feel lol. Are you sure he is not getting between the divider and the glass? That is how Mine got to the other side. Took Ice a week to get un depressed after getting his botty whipped lol.
