Please Help My Favourite Fish Is Dying!

you should vary their food every now and againim not sure what with but i just got a buuble eye and i was given that advice
Think I'll go to pet store tomorrow and tell them whats happened and I'll take some photos to show them.
My fish has really perked up and is swimming alot better now so maybe it is swim bladder.
My friend has just told me that the reason his tail might be shredded is due to the other fish in the tank sort of bullying him cause seemingly that is quite common.
I'll come on here tomorrow and let you know how he is and what the pet store said and I'll see if I can find any info out for your bubble eye to say thanks for your help.
Cheers.

Ill check the topic tomorrow then or you can send me a message thanks

Did you say how many gallons the tank is as it may be too small for all those fish?

As the fish recovered so quickly it might have been something like a high ammonia level that caused it to flip. Please take a sample of water to the pet shop and ask them to write down what the values are so you can post them.

My tank is 60 gallons and has an extremely powerful filter, but yes I will take a sample tomorrow and let you know what the readings are.
He is swimming a bit more but when he stops he ends up upside down again.

sounds like air then if he keeps flipping over. the warmer water will quicken his digestion and hopefully push that air through. Try to get food that sinks such as granular feed and after the 3 days fasting, which by the way wont harm the other fish if you put him back in, try him on boiled frozen peas squished.

He is still alive and swims a little bit but most of the time he lays floating upside down, what do you think I should do?
Is it worth going to the pet store or what? I haven't put him back in the tank as the other fish peck at him all the time.

All you can do is keep the water clean and wait. There is nothing you can give him med wise that will help despite manufacturers claims.

Try and keep the bowl somewhere warmand refill each day with some water from the kettle so he doesnt go into cold water again.
No salt.

How is he doing now?

Would the boiling water not kill the fish or do you cool it down a bit first

Put cold water in to the bowl and then top it off with some hot water until it feels warm enough and remember to add water conditioner, just a drop.
How much water does the bowl hold?

He is still with us!!!
Still floating upside down and sometimes swimming for awhile.

The bowl holds half a gallon.
I've got him in a quiet corner so he doesn't get disturbed.
What do you think his chances are?

I would hate to say one way or the other but at least you are trying and not giving up as other people said you should.
His chances may not be good but you can say you gave it 100%.

Good luck, I wish you all the best, but i've seen to many fish look that way.
I gave my orange pip two years with swim bladder, but once she laid on her back for weeks i knew she was finished.
