Platys Or Guppies What Do You Prefer ?

Im inclined to agree with Micko. I have kept platys and swordtail...and guppies. They are great fish (I didn't think they were boring) but I also wanted a challenge. I wanted to get into some breeding and livebearer breeding is just too easy and too hard at the same time lol. Easy to get em to have babies, difficult to save them at times. As far as personalities, they have great little personalities, suitable for a small little fish. And they have just as much as my oscars do, only my oscars have a bigger body to wag.
Boring they most definitely are not, but very beginner is what they are. And just like Micko, I still stop and look at them at the LFS.

they are more of a challenge than the platies and guppies
all livebearers are interesting
most rare/ wild types can be very challenging and some are among the hardest of fish to keep I have some that have taking me up to 2 years before I can get them to breed many of them are not as easy as platies and guppies. many wild types need different requirements
some need live foods to get them breeding some need to be kept at a certain temperatures if to high they can suffer or die. some are very good at eaten there fry some need certain types of traps to save fry. i find the goodeids more interesting they are so fascinating
Onece you try some of the rare ones you will see how interesting they can be.

Where did you see the argument DM? It's just difference of opinions. No offence, but I think there is an age difference problem here.

Well I keep both and enjoy them plus they help support my cichlid addiction LOL When it comes to Platys by far my favorite is the blue Mickey Mouse though mine have red on their dorsal and some of them red comes all they way down to the stomach area. working on some true white mickey mouse (no they aren't albino they have dark eyes) Then the Guppies can't pick a favorite color / type - have some with swallow tails, some with huge fan tails and other with shark tails.
