Dear friends please be patient and forgive ignorance, is it possible to plant with undergravel filtration. In my thoughts this seems illogical and impossible, however being open minded perhaps there are some solutions and possiblities that I am unaware of or some new type of technological development. Please be assured I want to waste no ones time, so if this question is absurd then please tell me, It will be taken in a spirit of one being enlightened.

I dont think it is a stupid question....not at all.

I have grown plants successfully in an aquarium before now. I think the plants benefit from having water flow at their roots. U may have to add more substrate, gravel or sand, on top of the undergravel, but it should be good growing!!! I had to cut my plants roots from my under gravel filter when i did a complete strip down!!!

thanks guys most helpful, reason I ask is that I think plants would be beneficial in consuming some nitrate, if at all possible could you give any links or any info to the kind of plants that one might utilise - many thanks robbie.
