Planned Fry Journal Just For Fun :)

He may have been ingested then spat out and ended up with a deformity as a result - that happened to one of mine, Ny.
I love that wood you've got (I know the big piece was from your landlady) - what section of Dunelm were they in? I've tried looking online but can't home in on anything other than wooden boxes or pegs! lol

I know it's part of breeding and sometimes it's hard to see them like that but he's doing fine so he will grow up with me and won't be sold!

Hi, my landlady got them from there too, she told me to get down there lol. She got the huge pieces-still £1.99 each.
They have it on their website called decora wood.  If you type that into the search on their site it takes you to it. I found it in store beside the plastic flowers and vases. It says on the tag natural mopani wood.

I kind of went £1.99 crazy....I will upload pics in a min haha!

You're welcome! Definitely go in store and pick your own piece. It just shows a standard piece on the website so I think if you ordered it online they would just send a random one.

Simply gorgeus...love on ya Nylah.

Thanks Pete, I was expecting the "it looks like it's dumped in the fry tank" that's because technically it is just strategically dumped in the fry tank lol
Once again I gave no thought to what about when the guppies grow -they won't be able to swim for wood! The filter however is for upto 100L and the fry tanki is only 30L so in that respect with the water change schedule I have, it shouldn't be a problem. I will be putting a few good males back into my main tank and selling the rest.

Forgot to add, I only soaked the wood a little while because I love the colour the water turns from the tannins. Makes it look awesome!

I shut the curtains and captured the beautiful brown glow from the fry tank in the dim light.

I wasn't happy with the wood in my tank, I didn't think it flowed very well. The way I had stood the big piece up just wasn't natural. It kept falling and needed to be interlocked with the other pieces to stand properly. So I lay it flat. What do you think?

Actually it looks good both ways I think so you could alternate the positions if you wanted a bit of variety.

Thanks, I prefer it this way. It looks a lot more natural and flows better. Speaking of flow, I noticed my filter wasn't fast and was chugging slightly. I took a cup of tank water and opened the bottom-oh my goodness there was all this horrible black slimy stuff. I rinsed it and put it back on. I didn't touch the sponges. It started working immediately. Just need to keep the vents clear I think.

Mamashack - did you get your piece of wood? My dunelm mill is walking distance from me so I can keep checking for twisty bits lol.

Not yet, Ny - I'll be popping in to have a look next week. I went to a garden centre and bought 3 amano shrimp instead. Can only assume my tank must have been absolutely filthy as they are still eating after an hour!! I feel quite ashamed!

 lol

Oh that's good. It's better to go in so you can pick your own.
lol! Are they messy? I love shrimps! They are so cute. I was meant to be getting the red cherry shrimp but after reading up, it turns out that they might eat guppy fry and the guppies will eat them when they grow up.
I thought that if the shrimp are at the bottom they can't get to the fry but I don't want the other guppies to eat them so it's like catch 22!
Then again B&M do a small tank for £12...a 3rd tank?...

Wow you have found a goldmine with that mopani wood!

I've been putting off the long trip to Dunelm Mill to get some new oven gloves LOL but I have a feeling I might make that trip soon...! ;)

I know! Can you imagine the sudden breaking news, Dunelm Mill breaks records in sales of decora wood hahaha! It's so cheap though, it would be rude not to go!
When I went, the woman behind the till recognised me from the day before and said where are you going with all this wood lol I said it was for the tank and she said only the other day a woman came in here and bought 2 bags full (that was my landlady!) and she added, it's never been this popular before!

Ooo I'd better get down there pronto if it's going to be that popular!
I was going to get some RCS for my platy tank but I missed out on an Ebay auction by 50p - pipped at the last minute! Maybe I was meant to have amanos all along. I had thought the RCS would add a bit of colour but these guys are doing such a good spring clean! It's like they are stomping their little feet all the time! Don't know if it's my imagination but the tank looks pristine now! lol
