Planned Fry Journal Just For Fun :)

I checked behind the filter, took the pebbles out, checked behind the plants, lifted the wood out not under there-it's only a 64L so where could he be? This is unbelievable.

It's not sounding very hopeful is it? I hope he's ok tho!

It's not all bad news however! When I was putting things back into the tank-out the corner of my eye I saw movement but dismissed it as being one of the babies. I was replanting some plants and that's when I seen him-a tiny newborn baby!!! He is tiny!
He is white and his shape makes me think he is a platy. The lack of colour could suggest a guppy, then again the only female platy I have is white.
There is only 1 but if it is platy fry then they could be hiding. There's 4 guppies, 1 platy and 15 fry big enough to eat newborns-the chance of a survivor is very thin.  I can't get over how small he is. Both female guppies are still quite big. I really think this is a platy. Baby guppies at this stage are normally bigger heads and googly eyed. I am super excited about seeing what he turns into!

:D

I thought that too, usually the guppies are swimming about and exploring even at a day old, but this little baby is just hiding in the corner. We shall see :D

You know something? I didn't even know she was pregnant. Maybe she is young. I didn't see any gravid spot, she wasn't overly huge, she's practically see through but this fry is pink so I am thinking it's hers. I will look for a suitable mate for her sometime this week. I bet there are more, platy fry are brilliant at hiding. When I had only platies, I didn't even know I had a fry until 3 weeks later an orange fry appeared, then a week later a silver one appeared! I hope that's the case here. If not I am happy with my 1 little cutie fry!

Aww like a phoenix rising from the ashes!  Cute little guy.

He is so small. It makes sense that he's a platy. The whole behaviour is that of a platy in my experience. Guppy fry are right out there and swimming about-this one is so still.
We will just need to wait and see. Little pink fry's progress will be documented here :D

Rusty my blue eyed siamese fighter who is in my sig passed away in the early hours this morning.

I was going to toss the tank when I saw sense and put my mystery fry in it. It's sitting on the wisteria leaves. It's definitely a platy. A guppy fry would be all over the tank exploring.

I also bought an endler cross. He is yellow and the only cobra one in the tank of endlers. He is tiny so still a juvenile. I put him in the 30L tank. He is too small to eat the fry. Unfortunately he is so fast and zipping about I can't get a proper pic. He looks like a top sword tail (there's a chart I put up in a previous post with all the tail shapes) His markings are stunning, reminds me of a Pakistani loach.
These are the best pics I could get i'm afraid!

I hope santa brings me a camera for christmas :p

Have you tested your water stats in that tank?  Just wondering if the musical filters has caused poisoning of some kind.

Sorry about the loss of old blue eyes!

Yeah the ammonia is 0, the nitrates are 40, the ph is always been low at around 6.5 and the nitrites are 0. I test all 3 tanks daily as the big one has got the 2 new filter cartridges as well as the old ones. I don't know what happened and thinking about it now, he was lethargic for a few days I always thought he was resting against the filter.
He was one of a kind. I will never find another like him again.
