I want to breed the black ones! She is holding onto these fry. That's been 5 weeks now. I hope she has them soon!
Have a look in the members aquarium pics, have just started a new project
Ok so it seems that I made a huge blooper. My journal was started on 23rd April when I first got my female for my black male. Going by those dates, it's only been 3 weeks so could still be another 2 until she drops fry depending on when they conceived.
I thought it had been ages. Amongst all the water changes, raising the first 2 lots of fry who, by the way, have all survived, getting the siamese fighter, then getting a 3rd tank...Yes...I admit it.
I am going crazy
Just a quick update before bed, the wisteria I have in the big tank is growing so fast, I took some cuttings and planted them in the guppy tank. It will be excellent for fry to hide in plus you don't need to plant it, it can be floating as well. It will probably grow big and bushy by the time the females have their fry
The first batches of fry are doing really well, they are getting big but no colour yet though,. that's the hardest part - the waiting for colour. They are all still white and gold so will probably all be yellow. I don't know yet but i'm excited!
I am starting to think my male platy is infertile. I have him and my female platy in the guppy tank. It's been 2/3 weeks and she isn't pregnant. Strange one.
I have seen them at it when they were first put into the tank. Haven't really paid much attention lately as I have been doing the new tank up and been monitoring the babies!
I think if she wasn't pregnant he would still be chasing her - at least that's what my platy males do, they don't give up if they sniff a fertile female!
So I have noticed that my white male platy has gone missing. That's right he is nowhere to be seen. I noticed yesterday that he was sitting at the back of the tank with clamped fins. Immediately did a 90% water change. He perked up a bit and so I left it at that. I can't believe I forgot to check how he was this morning. I don't know why I didn't and now I can't find him. I did add wood to the tank so lifted it in case he was under it but he's not. Where could he be? I checked the net as I used it to get the excess leaves that were floating about but he's not there either
I know that other fish and snails will eat dead fish but already? Completely gone? I am not believing that. Tomorrow the tank will be getting stripped to find him. Lets hope it's good news.
He didn't come out for food when I fed them and you know how greedy platies are. I don't think it's going to be good new, then again my female guppy was just hiding when she went missing.
