Pico Tank Diary

Well isn't yours a half gallon? I was looking for 3-5 g.

Even if it is a half gallon, i have a powerhead strong enough for a 3-4 gallon tank. I also crammed as much coral as i could in here, it could probably stock a 1-2 gallon tank. You shouldnt have to spend more than 150 if you want to cram a 3 gallon with coral.

If you dont want to cram anything into a tank and you want good flow, a canister filter and a drilled tank are what you want to do.

Not sure how an in-tank refugium is ment to be a good q tank, surely the disease will spread into the rest of the tank anyway? lol

Yeah I have a 5 gallon hex that just got free'd up after I transfered the betta to my new 20g. I could drill that since it is acrylic, I just need to find some good light, but I am also looking at going with a 10g now and have come up with some curious lighting options..... Any suggestions for lighting if I go with the 5 g hex? I saw that there is a 9" PC made by coral life and the tank is 11" across so I would have to fabricate some legs for it.

Im using that 9" coralife dealie...it's pretty nice but not nearly enough light for my 4.5gal...I mean it's bright but I want reef bright.

The coral life light I have on my new tank is ridiculously bright, but I want something brighter when I do my SW tank.

There are some pics up now in my pico journal where you can see just how bright it is. That should give you an idea. IMO it's just not bright enough.

wow this is fun to follow. i'm already thinking of what to do with my tiny powerhead :shifty: its probably only at 5cm tall and 4cm wide, 230L/H.

Dorkhedeos why dont you put in small pieces of LR so you can stack up the corals higher
