Thanks to your thread and watching that video again, I was up lastnight drilling an old 2 gallon cube and fitting it with hoses Ever ordered a 9" power compact light fixture with 2x24w bulbs hah. My pico is underway

Well I went to a few lfs and was about to buy enough to start to 20g long and decided to rethink what I want, I am not sure, I am looking at 5.5g things online, is 185gph too much flow for that small of a tank?

Yes, that is a little too much flow for a 5 if it is a normal powerhead.

Its made of glass so it wont scratch as easily, but then again, i dont really like acrylic so its probably a biased suggestion

Yeah, I did see that one, I was looking at the other one though because the filter is 80gph and the lighting is a bit stronger. I'm not really sure, I want to go full on with a canister but I don't want to just in case I end up not having time for it.

Oh btw, I didn't mean to thread jack at all, I just thought this was related and was hoping for some useful information.

I just finished getting mine setup. I just had a bow front 4.5 gallon acrylic tank and drilled holes in the back for different things. Made a vented clear top out of acrylic as well, found a nice little power compact 18watt lighting setup for it as well...total cost is about $30.

will do! Waiting on the light to ship but the water sand and rock are already in along with two strong air pump for movement and aeration.
