Out Of The Tidal Pool

Well just got back from visiting Dublin and Yes!.. Eric Clapton is God!
So here I am, back home, with way too many pints of

Consumed.

So as promised here's a few more pics surrounding the evolution of the new tank build.

The aquarium is now fully sealed and all the tapes have been removed

The Weir Box has been placed in situ and checked for squareness.

In the remaining two pics the Weir Box has been tacked to the walls of the aquarium with a fine bead of silicone
(A water barrel as be placed against the assembly until the silicone cures.

Its going to be time for fill up soon!
are you bracing teh tank?
how long do you think it will need to be cured enough to take the weight of water?

Umm Guinness
That’s looking really good bigC :good:
What’s the hole in the top of the weir for? The return feed?

Once I've finished sealing the Weir Box in place (watertight seal) I will fashion the Weir-comb. Then I will address the bracing bars, everything is cut to size so it's just an ongoing process to finish one particular section and move on to the next. I am having the stand fabricated at work so once I finish the actual upstairs building and plumbing I can then concentrate my attention to plumbing a sump.

Its black ventilation grille, (much cheaper than Deltec or Aqua-Medic)

(in the background of the pic)

I will cut off one of the channels (top or bottom) which incidentally fit snugly over a 10mm piece of glass.
I just need to measure from the top of the weir wall to the top of the tank itself, that way I don't have to have a weir cover to stop critters getting into the pocket.
Most tanks I've seen have the weirs set lower in the tank and all maner of critters and fish seem to be able to circumnavigate the weir comb, this is why I wanted the weir comb to be level with the top of the aquarium.
One step at a time, all stages will be revealed, with pictures shortly

I spent a little time this morning cutting and fitting the Weir Comb as I need to nip out later for some more silicone to seal the box.

I have cut the Weir Comb

Picture009-3.jpg

into one length to begin with

Picture014-1.jpg

Then I cut it to the exact length and mitred the corners for a neat tidy fit.

This now slots neatly on top of the glass Weir Box

All finished, now on to the next little job!....The Bracing

PS
Sorry to speed you up Big C, as you can probably guess, I have an ulterior motive for asking that question.
I cant, for the life of me, imagine what that could be :p

This is just an air vent cover you have modified yes?
Exactly Rabbut. There are 2x10mm channels on each side of the grille holes which fit onto the top of my Weir Box. They're not siliconed onto the glass so can be easily removed for cleaning.
