I've found its nice to have all info in one place, so it easier to look up.
For some reason, I have the feeling in the back of my Throat that can only be fixed by a Ginger Ale....

Anyways, I read somewhere you shouldn't use your own tap water. whats this about?

You should aim for a reading of 1.026

Chac can you please explain this. i have been under the impresion that the SG should be around 1.021 - 1.024.

I like loads of Keepers run my tank at 1.026 (NSW) Natural Sea water Level, but my LFS keep there tanks at 1.022, He says this is mainly for cost

Just remember that SG & Salinity are 2 different (& Mind Bending) things & SG (Specific Gravity) being the the relative density of two fluids

Whereas salinity is a measureof the amount of PPT (parts per thousand) of salt in your tank water

This is a just one mind bending issue (another one being DKH)

I hate to sound like I'm talking down, but a lot (if not all) of the info is already in the threads.

However, it's far better that info is repeated and more people learn it than we chide about reading pinned topics when it's too late.

I think every case is different to a small degree & people (especially Newbies) need/want a bit of personal attention/explanation.
