On The Edge

Nano's are just the best. Looking forward to seeing pictures when the plants have spread a little and filled out :)

cheers guys, orded some bumble bee snails. The cherries have settled in well. Sorry Sorgan, didn't answer your question, yes the filter was kick started will mature media out of my main tank.

love the tank, looks brill. like something similar on my desk at work.

how big is the resun external filter. i've been looking for a silent compact external for a while.
assume like most externals its got to sit lower than the tank or is the pump strong enough to do the work.
also how thick are the inlet and outlet tubes?

I haven't ordered one, but Supercoleys ordered one and is waiting on as we speak, i'm sure he'll let you know what its like. But for £15 you can't go wrong can you!

I;m going to do this!!!

looks ace

would cherry shrimp be gobb;led by my large Uaru does anyone know? I suspect so but always wanted to keep them

Defo. :(

The ninjas were from Maidenhead Aquatics (Lincoln). I only know what i have read on the net about em. Its strange as i think they've changed into cherry shrimp, theres a cherry with white old looking horizontal stripes.

May be a crystal red shrimp or if they run the other way then prob a cherry as a lot of mine have the odd white lines running the length of the body.

cheers for the info
i've read other users reviews and they say its a really good filter and silent to. think its a must buy.

alright mate, that AC. Simon, you keep threatening to do a nano tank! Do it!!

anyways i thought i'd try my decent cameran on this tank and the pics came out a lot better than my big tank. Also when in MA a few days ago, i had a look at an Arc pod for the lighting, the price was £33 for a 9 watt. As i wanted to keep the tank quite low tech and not spend a lot on it i didn't bother. Anyways searching the intermacweb last night i came across said lighting on a Koi carp shopping website for £15!! Straight to the printer and down to MA this morning. Price matched 'kerching'

sorry, more pics with new light.
(excuse the plug sockets, it was only a try out)

Can the Shrimp climb out of the tank Ianho? I recall it having a lid 4/5's of the way across, and the filter lead exposed.

James.

Diggin' the BBA snail! Haha

Your plants are looking somewhat pale and leggy. Is it just me or are they struggling somewhat.

What regime have you got going on this tank currently out of curiosity?

the BBA snail came witht the ninjas, waste not...we'll soon get that cleared up. The Pogostemon Helferi is out of my old tank, i have had this spec for about 18 months now, if ya look in the other journal its just at the front of the island (going into the island). IME this plant benifit from higher light rather than C02. The cutting you can see are at max 4cm long. Pogostemon Helferi can max out at 10cm, this is why i have used it where it is, ie to make it look a bit tree like. These are cutting from my other plants so they aren't gonna be as quality as the Pogostemon Helferi, you'd see from Tropica. Admittedly they could do with a bit of Fe, there is nothing being dosed into this tank as yet. I'm gonna keep an eye on it and see what happens. I'm still unsure whether to dose a bit of Easycarbo yet after my chat with AC on monday.

and James, the Cherrys would probably have a go at climbing out if the water was really bad, but they are true aquatic so they shouldn't, the top has gone off of the tank.

Cherry shrimp won't jump ship on their own unless the water is bad. The will sometimse cling to the water line to eat the surface scum :)

Liquid C is your choice Ian. 9W over a 3USG isn't so much. However see what happens.

Don't spot dose the snail though. lol

AC

hahahahahaha he's my measure on C02 flutuations!
