I thought I had gotten rid of this stupid ich infestation once and for all... it was introduced by my clown loaches, who I cured. Somehow, some of the parasites survived and my platies got it, which I then cured. Then my discus got it, cured it again. And now, voila: my otos have it. I think it's like the fish version of chicken pox; everyone has to get it for it to finally go away, not to mention it itches. Still waiting on my betta though: he's one tough little dude. :p

Ich is a parasite, not a bacteria. It is critical that you continue a full course of treatment, even if the symptoms disappear, because Ich has multiple life stages and the meds only affect them when they're free-swimming. So when the tank is infected, there are various parasites in different stages - if you don't complete the full treatment you aren't really doing much, except perhaps building up a tolerance in the parasite to the meds.

Yes I know all of that, but thanks anyway. I was not asking for advice, simply stating how annoyed I am at the stupid whitespot. :grr:

Cation was only trying to help you, and for that she gets a rude response? :look:

When you start a topic, it's only right to expect a reply; that's what a forum is for. And, I might add, her answer might just stop some other member from having the same problem you had. :) If all you want to do is express yourself, it might be better if you write your complaint on a piece of paper and throw it away. At least then your temperament won't effect anyone else. :grr:

I wasn't being angry at cation, and I was grateful for her advice even though I didn't need it; the little angry face was only aimed at the ich.

You see what I am saying............

Hey David!

The other night you were telling everyone how it easy it was to keep discus. :dunno: However, you fail to tell people that your discus had suffered from ick. :dunno: Does not sound very easy to me :byebye:

If discus were that difficult to keep, it would have died by now from the ich and the nitrite spike and all the other crap that has happened in my tank so far, that has killed my cardinals and 2 of my clown loaches. Obviously it is much hardier than these fish. And BTW it is no longer suffering from ich. It is my otos that are now plagued by it.

Death is not the only way to measure the difficulty in keeping fish. You were telling everyone your discus was happy, for entire 3 weeks (please read his posts_ How happy can it be if it alreadt suffered from ick.

The same Ick that you have combating since your cycle

i really don't see why anyone bothers to reply to this guys posts anymore to be honest... I know i dont (oops i just did)

As i have said many times. why come asking for advice then say "i know that" etc..
quite clearly hasn't got a clue and is unwilling to learn/listen to good advice.

:D Where were you the other night when people were made at me?

I try to ignor his posts, but he just be spitting the worst advice sometimes, then when he gets good advice he get mad at person.

I am so glad someone else has noticed that.. :D

Sounds to me that you are not treating for long enough. Bump the tempature up to 82F and treat for 3 weeks (no matter what the meds say) as that is the length of the life-cycle of the parasite and it can only be killed when it is free swimming which is after the spots disappear.

I have to agree with the others David, your attitude is annoying when people are only trying to help you. This is especially annoying when you act like an expert in many topics when clearly you are not.

remember how you were being a "expert" too on my clown loaches? debating on how my clowns will die in my 10 gallon and won't even last till i get them the 55 gallon? even tho i explained that it can also be for qurintining?(huge sp)
and guess what? all 5 of my clown loach have been perfectly happy right till this day and 2 third of your clown loach died? proves that you do not have a healthy tank, clown loaches are fairly hardy when kept in the right conditions, space to play in, retreats for them, good food, etc. and it seems like they were not in the right condtion and so isn't your discus, just for the fact that you are keeping only one

okay lets not flame or he will never learn.

And David if you just wanted to share whats going on why on earth did you put it in the emergencies section?
