Hi all,ok im panicking slightly...
Yf stayed out last night at his girls so no one to ask lol hahaaaa,yes so i got in from having a few stellas last night and imediatley parked infront of my tanks I bought some live rock rubble from my lfs yesterday and plonked it in the front of my frag tank.Well when i looked last night i was concerned there was the biggest piece of Aptaisia but was slightly worse for wear to get it out,upon getting up this morning all bleary eyed i saw that it had gone?? Well upon my eyes get back to normal ive noticed its moved itself and now resides on the front of my tank??
Ok so my question is ... is it actually Ap or something else.See pics below. Many thanks

that does look like aptasia id get it out just to be sure as they are little basta welli wont say the rest


also i meant there apparently hard to maintain long term as they cant get the requirments they need for a long time so theylle be fine but they often have a sloow lifespan

Ahhhhh thanks Bae,its out the tank now mate and ive just saw another on a rock but very small.Think ill just throw the rock as its oly a small piece of rubble

That looks more like a mojano to me, good job you got it out - although some people like them and keep a little tank for them

We would need to know what the contents are OF, but it looks pretty evil stuff - if the area has to be well ventilated

wouldnt go in my tank thats for sure. Even the weather proof ones wouldnt be. Threy are of a similar make up to silicones iirc.

KZ speed glue is good for scaping and super glue gel is good for frags

Hi,ok 22 days now since i posted that i had brown algae and almost everyone said Diatoms.How long does it last?? as it doesnt seem to be going anywhere just yet

Also i have to do a top every so often through evaporation,would this feed the diatoms to stay?? Theres no way i cant top up as my pumps would be close to being out of the water.I do use RO and if i do a water change (25 litres) then i use salted.

Hi, thats cyano bacteria.

number of things that can contribute.
High phosphates
poor flow in that area
and light.

you do need to be toppinng up. but with fresh RO water. Tap water is riddled with phosphates. Topping up with salted water will up the SG.
What are you feeding the tank? this can contribute as frozen food contain a lot of phosphates. They need to be de-frosted and rinsed first.
What X turnover do you have?
Once you have gotten ontop of the phosphates you could try a day or two in darkenss to get shut. It wont hard your corals.

Are you using your LFS RO? maybe they are ready for a membrane change on their unit and selling high TDS water.

Most new tanks go through a cyano stage though

Thanks Ben,i just did a phosphate test on my tank water and the reading is between 0.25 and 0.5 ??

So.......... next step please to reduce my phosphate. Major water change?? cover the tank for a few days for total darkness??

Hi Seffie,ive had cheto in since setting up so about 3 - 4 weeks.I feed once a day tetra marine granules xs.I dont have a phosphate remover how much water should i change?? someone told me to buy rowa's and a reactor of some kind cant remember which he said tho,god this is stressing me out i dont want disaster here and lose heart

Yep, get some rowaphos, there will be a bag in the container - I can't remember what skimmer you have - is there somewhere in there you could put it?

Nah, this isn't a disaster, it happens to us all, just a learning curve

Do a water change
Put in the rowa
change the flow, so that it is going directly over the area of cyano
cut down slightly on feeding
syphon up the cyano
