Just tossed them in there because I was sick of having them sit around in my closet. Boiled beforehand, which made them sink nicely. This tank will be pretty one day, when I get a good piece of driftwood and such, but for now it's just a temporary holding tank for a betta.

Put a couple in the Betta albimarginata juvie/chocolate gourami tank too ^_^

Woulden't the leaves begin to get brown and ugly looking? just wondering.
They already are brown? I imagine they'll decompose a bit, but I'm really using them primarily for the tannins, so I'm not concerned. The water has a lovely tea colour now :)

Most people like their tank water to be clear. Why do you want your tank to look like a giant cup of tea?

Because a tea-stained tank can look more natural than a clearwater -
