Rut roh, might be the dreaded Valonia commonly known as bubble algae... Does it look like this?

If so, there are only two things I know of that eat it... Emerald Crabs and Naso Tangs and with both, your mileage may vary. As your tank is still young, you could remove the rock, remove the algae (taking care not to break it cause you will release spores if you do). Once its removed, rinse the rock in a bucket of saltwater a couple times and put it back in your tank. Luckily its only one bubble so you should be able to stop it if you act now :good:

Lol, I thought the same thing when I first read this :lol:. Had to read it twice to get it :hey:

I've found bubble algae almost impossible to pop, it's hard and you have to give it a good squeeze to pop it. (Which is good fun, not in the tank of course!)

I've got rid of pretty much of all mine now and it isn't coming back :D
Now if this cyano was as easy...:(

hmmmm ill shall have another inspection...although i cant see very much atm

Im annoyed there has been a delay in my order and should have recieved my lights this week, in time for my rock delivery, now i wont get them till wednesday :X grrrrr....will this have any great effect on my live rock?

Also I found a small peachy browny colored thingy looked like a bubble kinda ill have to inspect that again though...is that bad as well?

Dunno, pics pics pics :hey: :hey: :hey:

The lack of lighting probably wont be the worst thing ever. If you can shine a house light on it that would be better than nothing

okies i shall see if i can get a few photos, of the unknowns and what i have done today! :)

Ok sorry about the quality some are camera phone!
The green thingy is definatly not bubble algae though it really doesnt look like that at all.

looks like it's coming along niceley mate! :good:

The lights won't matter too much. Might get a nice bit of sponge groth on the LR in the time it take to get the lights up.

It better be wednesday or i wont be a happy bunny!!! :no: lol!

I have identified the peach thing asssss....aiptasia NO! die die die

what can i so seeing as its a new tank can i take out my rock and kill it off or somthing I have noticed 3 of them on there?

I about to ask a dumbo questions do you need to still dechlorinate RO water if you make your own?

Okay after adding live sand for 2 days and live rock for 1 day is it possible that these readings are right or is it too early.

ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 01.-0.3
Nitrate = 30

shouldnt I have an ammonia reading..or is it too early to test for?

This is with 10Kg of live rock and 20lbs of live sand in a bout 17G of water.

I dont have an answer - but the water stats are interesting, i checked mine yesterday - with the live rock being in 2 days and got an ammonia 0.25 and zero nitrite and nitrate.

I thought RO water would initialy have 0 nitrates in it?
:/

Im not a huge chemistry buff, but someone else should be able to help you answer your question on those results.

As for the Aiptasia, this page might help, but a chemist (drug store) will sell you a syringe, and just use some home vinegar, and inject those little nasties! :lol:

Those water stats are fine. Everyone's LR arrives to their tank a little differently. Some have large dieoff of ammonia eaters, some with large dieoff of nitrite eaters, and some with large dieoff of both. You seem to just have had some decent nitrite-eater dieoff. When those bacteria replenish themselves you'll be done with your "cycle". Remember, unless your LR spends more than 20 minutes out of water between your LFS and you it should only take about a week to cycle... Your levels seem just fine for now

You can buy TMC chemical to kill the pest also and it wont affect the tank one bit i believe.
