Nat's 125 Litre Juwel Rio Marine!

So I did my 50% water change and here are the results a few hours later:

SG: 1.022
pH: 8.2
Ammonia: <0.25
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0.5

Everything is still the same! Haha. Tomorrow I'm going to start off my CUC by getting:

2 x Cleaner Shrimp
2 x Scarlet Hermit
1 x Blue Leg Hermit
2 x Turbo Snail

I went to my LFS today and they said that my water is fine after all, so I ended up getting:

1 x Cleaner Shrimp
2 x Reg Leg Hermit
3 x Turbo Snail

I've been acclimatising them for nearly 2 hours now. Exciting times ^-^

Pics.. we need pics!!

Hi Nat,

I've just read this Journal from start to finish, what a great read :good: Its helped answer alot of my questions along the way. Thats a gorgeous looking tank, I really like the black background, will pinch that idea for mine.

I would love to see a pic with your new CUC :good:

Hi karigupi, thanks! Glad it helped you ^-^ yeah I think it was definitely worth the effort with the black background, it really shows off the colours of the tank and will be much less maintenance than a stuck on background.

Here's some pictures of my little CUC. I've got the lights off until tomorrow so that they settle in a bit better, so that's why the pics aren't that good yet. I got some frozen brine shrimp so I put half a cube in, I was worried there's not enough food in there for the shrimp yet. I think some of them have been eaten whilst I was out of the room for an hour.

One of my turbo snails has been cleaning the same rock for about 2 hours, the other 2 aren't being so turbo and are just sat still. They were attached to each other in the bag so I separated them, but they haven't really moved much. Hopefully they'll move a bit more tomorrow. The hermit crabs have been really active already, sifting through sand and walking around. After taking these pictures the darker one ran off into the rocks. Haha. The cleaner shrimp (who I've named Pierre) seems quite happy, he's stayed on the same rock since he went in and is hiding round the back a bit now.

Woah I just noticed..what's that thing in the last picture on the left, is it a feather duster or aiptasia?

Arg! Will my hermit crabs eat it or should I get a peppermint shrimp?

Hermits don't touch them. You could try a peppermint or remove the pieces of rock and burn them off with a little blow torch. Do that outside though as it wreaks!

Noooo I don't want to kill it. I'll get myself a peppermint shrimp I think.

lol well a peppermint shrimp is going to kill it too :p

I know, I just don't want blood on MY hands. haha! I'll let nature do it's work ^-^
